Non Preppy East Coast College/Universities?

Hi any non preppy schools on the east coast? I go to fairfield and had a 3.4 this semester but I hate the preppiness, and cookie cutterness of the school, so looking for the non preppy aspect, where people are friendly, down to earth, and how much money you have insn't the only thing to talk about. Basically not preppy, but everyone still has some style, friendly people etcetera. Also preferably a bigger school than Fairfield, around 10 - 20,00 would be ideal

Any bigger school will have more diversity, particularly public universities. A school like UConn (or your home state’s flagship public if you’re not from CT) will certainly have some preppies but will have a greater mix of socio-economic backgrounds. If you want to stay in the Northeast but want out of CT, a school like Boston University (although larger than 20,000) will have more diversity. If you want to stay in the same general area near New York, I hear SUNY New Paltz is pretty down to earth and friendly.

There are tons of schools, try using the college search tool here on CC for some options based on your criteria…

NYU and Northeastern come to mind.

Just out of curiosity, why east coast? If you are wanting something different, could you try a different area of the country?

Rutgers
U of Mass.
U of North Carolina
U of Florida
U of Georgia
WVU
U of Pittsburg

U of North Carolina as in UNC Chapel Hill? I think most people trying to avoid a preppy school are going to find UNC on the preppy side. Personally I don’t think it’s overly preppy, but my prep tolerance is exceptionally high to the point of not noticing it much of the time.
