Non-Target Investment Banking Internship

I am at a non-traget school (UW-Madison) and I was wondering how hard it would be to get a BB internship in sales and trading? What are the chances of getting an internship by applying for it on their website as opposed to those who can apply for it during a career fair at their target college?

bump, im interested

investment banking and sales/trading is not the same thing =/. S&T is a division within an investment bank tho (in most cases). Your best bet would be to get an internship at a lower regarded bank (wachovia etc) Then work your way up. The interviews are very technical you'll get a lot of brainteasers, math questions (whats the square root of 1000 etc) so the more math courses the better.

You can definitely do it even though you're not at a target school. I know someone who got an ibd internship with jp coming out from nc a&t i while ago. i think uw madison would give you a better chance than nc a&t

You can do it, but make sure you plan some backup options (work at a boutique bank and finance positions outside of investment banking).
