Non-Top 10% Decisions

I was at UT yesterday (spur of the moment trip) with a friend
And we wanted to go on a campus tour and whatnot, but since it was raining, our tour guide diverted us to certain offices (admissions, natural sciences, plan II, health professions) to speak with whoever was there.

We spoke to one of the admissions counselor, Ms. Lockhart (i think)
And she looked up both our records (my friend is non-top 10%)
She said that they still have 15,000 applications that need to be reviewed
and that my friend should hear back around the last week of March

So yall still have a couple more weeks...keep your fingers crossed till then!

They told us they will be sending out admissions letters until the first week in April.. so yeah.

15,000?! GOOD GRIEF! When did your friend apply bluefalcon245?

I just hope mine has been reviewed and that there is space for me :(

Btw, thanks for posting this :)

For some reason, I just don't believe they have 15,000 left to review. That would be around 3/4 left to review...

15,000? I find that a little hard to believe. Probably 1500.

^ That does seem like a ridiculous amount of applications to review in such a short period of time (considering there is no actual activity going on in admissions today).

But then again, I think most people apply near the February 1st deadline but still...I don't know. All I know is that I am selfish and want my decision pronto haha.

Well, either way, no way they have 15,000 left. What have they been doing in the past month and a half? UT has an average of 23,000 applicants a year, probably a bit more every year. There is no way that UT has only gone through 8,000 applicants in 1.5 months and expects to go through 15,000 more in a matter of 2 weeks.

probably a typo on the og posters behalf

They probably have reviewed most of them, but they haven't updated their system/sent out letters of admissions to about 15k of them.

Hmm
Thats what she said, at least
[shrug]

So today, I received a thin envelope from UT; however, when I opened it, it was for my submission into the Barbara Jordan scholarship contest. :p

Im top 5%, in-state, and applied in early Sept and still havent heard.

tripperian35- That makes no sense at all and hopefully you've called admissions. You said you moved to TX a year ago to get residency. Maybe they aren't recognizing you as a TX resident.
