Non-traditional student: CC Transfer to Howard/Georgetown?

Hello. I've been on CC for quite a while now (primarily in the Prep School and HS forums), but have recently made a transition to the transfer forum. This year, I made the decision to leave HS as a tenth grader (15 yro) and received my diploma through an alternative homeschool program. Next semester (Spring 2013), I'll be attending a local community college (SCC), with the intentions of transferring after a year (Spring 2014). Here's the dilemma: Since I was homeschooled, I don't have a traditional transcript. Will this be a problem in terms of admission to Georgetown/Fordham/Spelman; all schools that require a HS transcript. Also, would my chances be stifled significantly if I applied as a first-semester freshman? Are there any schools in particular that are great with non-traditional transfer? Will certain schools be apprehensive about my age?

Thank you.

You should check out the Home Schooling forum to see how students deal with the lack of a HS transcript. My understanding is that tests (SAT/ACT, Subject, AP, etc.) become more important in showing your academic abilities.

You need to contact each place, and find out if they will consider you a freshman applicant or a transfer applicant. In most cases, taking classes at a community college after high school graduation will make you a transfer applicant.

The majority of the schools I’m applying to are going to classify me as a transfer applicant, as long as I complete a minimum of 15/24 credits (varies by institution).
