I'm currently taking math courses that are considered non-transferrable at UC/State schools (in CA).

I am geard towards applying to private schools (out of state). Do these schools recognize classes that are non-transferrable and do they affect your GPA when applying? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for the help.

non-transferable classes in math are generally remedial math courses that you have to take to catch up. Once you get to the full college algebra level, it starts to transfer. It generally goes:

remedial math -> college algebra -> pre-calc -> Calc I -> etc.

If school do allow that remedial class to transfer, generally it is as a math elective where as other schools might not allow it to transfer and ask that it not be a part of your transferrable gpa. Overall the course still counts in your cumulative gpa when looked at by grad schools though.
