Nonprofit Management Majors?

Hello everyone!

I am currently searching for colleges that offer a nonprofit management major, or something similar.

So far, I have found that Arizona State University offers a “Nonprofit Leadership & Management” major, and Vanderbilt offers a major in “Human and Organizational Development” with a track in “Community Leadership and Development” (which deals with nonprofit organizations).

Does anyone know of any other colleges with nonprofit-related majors?

Thanks!

That’s a very narrow major, and is not offered at many places. The places most likely to offer that are going to be large universities. This is something more often studied at the graduate level.

The good news is that you definitely don’t have to major in nonprofit management to manage a nonprofit. You could major in anything. One way to do it is to major in management/business; lots of business majors have classes in running a nonprofit or something other than a traditional for-profit corporation. You could also major in virtually anything - nonprofit managers come from lots of different backgrounds.

What you likely want is a Public Policy/Affairs program. Here is an example from tOSU. http://glenn.osu.edu/undergraduate/

A non-profit business is still a business, so many majors (including but not necessarily limited to business) could be useful if you are aiming for a career in that direction.

U of MN business school has a major in public and nonprofit mgmt.

Ohio State (Glenn School) and Case Western Reserve University.
