Nontraditional college applicant - opinions please?

Hey there,

I am a senior in high school, and will be taking the SAT for the first time in October. Yes, I know. I want more than one try to take the SAT, because I know I can get a high score (2100+) based on practice tests; I just need to get used to the timing because I go brain-dead during pressuring situations. I am an A student who has taken all honors/ap classes and is a member of 3 honor societies, (I will gain acceptance to the third this spring).

So in order to have more time to take the SAT, it looks like I am going to have to apply to college a year after I graduate high school. Furthermore, adding my senior year to my cumulative GPA will bring it up a point. But the only way any of this can happen is if I wait a year to apply to college.

Is that all right? I am looking to apply to the University of Connecticut and Penn State.

Thanks!

A lot of people take gap years; you’ll probably be ok.

Since you’ve been successful in your advanced classes, you might want to take the ACT which focuses a lot more on things covered in school.
