I’m 28 year old biomedical engineering major. I had horrible grades my first run at CC. I got my act together and now I have a 3.95 in the past 75 units i have taken. I am looking to transfer to UCLA, UCI, UCSD, or UCB. I think there is an advantage to being an older transfer. We have a lot of life experience and there is less chance that we will get caught up in the college life. Good luck to all!
23 y/o going to a CCC. Planning to transfer to a UC or CSU.
Graduated HS in 2006 w/3.4 GPA, military service 2006-2010, and had to find a job after separation. Now going to school to advance in current job field. Accepted to privates, but finances were not all there so deciding to go the CC to state school route.
29 year old father and former Carnegie Mellon MSE dropout. I had a well paying job with CSC until I was laid off in late 2010. It was a good thing I couldn’t find a job afterward because it would have delayed me going back to finish my undergraduate studies.
When I started back in Summer II 2011, the last time I had taken Calc I the World Trade Center was still standing. I was not a disciplined person back then and it scared me that I was unprepared and going to make the same mistakes again. Luckily, as I’m sure you all are aware, compared to what it takes to be an adult, a professional, a father, and a husband, the responsibilities of school are pretty manageable.
I am now finishing up my A.S. in both (double major) Materials Science & Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. I only received credit for Physics II, Calc I and Thermodynamics (11 credits) coming into my CC, so I essentially had to start from scratch. My first year back went well, with 45 new credits earned and a 4.0 GPA. I have 27 credits to finish before I will hopefully transfer to College Park’s Aerospace program; though, given the obstacles to overcome with their policies, I am keeping Capitol College’s Astronautical Engineering program and going the SOI/Goddard intern route as a backup.
As you may have guessed, my interests are in space programs. Hopefully that is what I’ll get to work on and eventually lead when I grow up
It’s really nice to see someone created a home for us old fogies, so I want to say thank you to Veritas! I’m a 29 y/o female hoping to transfer to a UC/CSU next year to FINALLY complete my bachelors degree…
