Where are all the nontraditional students?

Just wondering if anyone 25+ is transferring to any of the UC’s? I'll probably go to Davis.

Here! I’m 27 and will be 28 by the time I actually transfer. Hoping for UCLA or Cal just because they are the only two out of the 4 I applied to that have my Geography major :)

I’m 25! :)

Nice!I’m 27 also.

ColorsInTheStars- where else are you applying?

How about you Citiz3nerased,
Where are you going?

I applied to UCLA, Irvine, SD, and SB…I’m thinking most likely irvine because I don’t know yet if I’d be down to move to SD/SB… And I’m not sure if I’ll make it into LA.

I’ve also applied at UCI and did TAG to UCSD, but I changed my major, so I’m assuming my TAG will be void. I applied at a few Cal States just because of the fee waiver, and for peace of mind, but I think my stats are probably strong enough to get me into UCLA (but that doesn’t stop me from doubting this every second of the day).

Yeeh, I applied to 4 UCs and 4 CSUs because I received the fee waiver…thankfully! Lol

Goodluck! We’re getting closer!

Btw, being older I think we’re more anxious/nervous/ecitied because we finally reached this point :)

Have you heard back from any your CSUs yet? Their acceptances are probably the only thing that is keeping me from going insane while I wait another month and a half for my top two! And I totally agree with you about being older and more anxious…I never in my life thought I’d even have a chance at getting into these schools and now it could really happen. It seems unreal!

Right! I am all of those. I didn’t realize I could also apply to 4 CSu’s with the fee waiver! I better get accepted somewhere. I only applied to UCSD,SB,LA and TAG for Davis. Are you guys gonna work while you’re there? Where do you plan on living? I have a dog so the transfer housing guarantee won’t work for me.

Yeah, I just applied to them in case a) I didn’t get in at UC and b) I couldn’t get enough financial aid, but looking at financial aid now, it looks as if it would actually be cheaper for me to go to a UC.
I’m hoping I get some kind of work study so I don’t have to go on a huge job search, but I’m planning on really only working very minimally because I really just want to focus on school. I’m planning on moving into on campus housing (or off campus university housing) and would really like a single because of my age, but it doesn’t look like that’s very likely. Side note, a CSU I applied to, Sonoma State, has 21+ housing and rooms with king beds, so that’s pretty tempting!

Yeah, I’ve been working the whole time I’ve been at the cc so I’d rather not work if I can afford it. Work study sounds good but I never seem to get it.

I’ve only been admitted to Fullerton so far…
And you have to apply for each system’s fee waiver separately…
Yess, I’m planning on working. Right now I’m at 30+ hours (5 days a week), but I want to make it 3 or 4 days instead because I don’t think I’d be able to handle it…
And if I had to move I’d most likely get an apartment and look for a roommate

I am 29  applied to UCLA and UCB (and northridge, just in case).

25 applied to every UC excet berk. Hoping for Davis. Extremely nervous! Hope you all get in to the schools you want!

Thankks! Good luck to you as well :)

I’m 35. Ouch. That hurts. Applied at ucla an uc merced, tag with UCSB but I changed my major. Hoping it works out.

That’s great! I’m glad you said that because I didn’t even want to admit I was 27 and just like ColorsInTheStars I’ll be 28 when the quarter rolls around. I don’t expect/want the same experience an 18 or 19 year old will have but I do want to meet people and enjoy the trip through college. I’m just happy we’re all sticking it out. Good luck to every one and thanks for your posts!

Oh yeah, norcaltransfer77, what’s your new major?

I changed to Anthropology. I talked to an admission rep and she told me that it shouldn’t be a problem. The confusing part was about the TAG. It doesn’t say that I’ve been accepted for it, because they don’t accept TAG. It doesn’t really make sense to me, but she told me as long as I satisfied the pre-req’s I’d be accepted. Confusing right? Because they do take TAG’s.

^^Norcaltransfer77 UCSB, and other UC’s like SD, don’t right away say your TAG has been approved. They let you know if your TAG has been accepted when you get admitted to the school.

<- Tagged to UCSB also

I really am rattled with this whole process. I wanted to get out of California so I applied at Appalachian state and Boise state and got accepted to both. Humboldt state, SF state, and CSU Monterey all accepted me as well. Still waiting on Cal Poly SLO. After looking at all the people that are getting rejected and waitlisted, I don’t think I will get in. I also applied at some crazy reach schools for the hell of it. Vanderbilt, North Carolina Chapel Hill, Brown (lol, I know right), and a handful of LAC’s. The LAC’s really are intriguing to me. I like the smaller classes and the open curriculum’s at Brown and Brandeis. I’m basically a nervous wreck trying to finish the last semester at the CC, work full time, and try and figure out how I am going to afford to attend anywhere. Ah, the joys of being a misplaced worker…
