Noob in APs needs your help!

Hey everyone! This is my first time to post in the AP area, so bear with me if I sound a little ignorant. Ok, first off I'm an international junior who hasn't had the chance before to take any AP. Anyway, I have the chance right now, and would love to take a couple of them. The question is: how much? I'm gonna be self studying them and I want to take AP psychology, AP Biology, and hopefully AP chemistry. Considering that I have VERY superficial understanding of Biology and chemistry, would I have enough time till May to study well for these three subjects in order to get a 5? Also considering that I will study 24/7 all that time. Would it be enough?

Another thing I read by christiansoldier in Silverturtule's guide was that chemistry is not so much self study friendly, and for someone who knows squat about chemistry, then would this be a bad idea? I mean would it just need time or would it be virtually impossible to self study AP chemistry?

And let's say that there is enough time to study for more than two APs and that the AP chemistry is out of the equation, then from here till May, what other tests besides AP Biology and psychology can I take? I'm really lost on APs and have no idea how hard they are, and how many APs do people usually take together. I'd really appreciate any help here... Thanks in advance!

There are students in schools that take their own schedules’ as AP’s. My school frowns upon taking more then 2.

Look at the subjects you want to take. Go to AP Central and look at the free response questions. See how lost you are.

DO NOT try to self study AP chem. just dont.

They have SAT subject tests also if you haven’t gotten a chance to look into that.

AP Bio and AP chem are both pretty difficult, so you should probably decide which one you’d rather self-study. If you want to study more, some of the easier AP classes include AP Stats, AP economics, and AP environmental science (at least in my experience). I’m a currently taking four AP classes right now, but keep in mind that I’m not self-studying and I’ve been in these classes since August.

Go to a local library or book store and skim through the prep books of various topics to see which one works with you. I’ve self studied two last year for my first time (the two I did self study were my first official ap tests as well, ap psych and enviro). But yeah, look through prep books and seek if it is doable. Each person learns at their own pace. I did AP psych the weekend before the test (Don’t do this) and got a 4 and I’m no super genius either. Also, look at the reviews online at places like Amazon to see how closely the prep books relate to the official test. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to ask other teachers of their opinion. hope I helped!

Thanks a ton for your help guys! I’ve started killing myself now :frowning: Hope I would be able to study all of this material till May…
