Normal AP classes for a sophomore

How many classes do you guys think is normal for a sophomore? I feel like I"m taking a lot of APs as a sophomore (5) and one IB class. Do you think that would be too hard?

In my school it's AP Bio
AP Art History
AP World History

Depends on how much you can handle. Here, APs aren't even offered to sophomores. I'd say "normal" is honors classes with some electives.

hmm thats definitely alot!!

I would make sure that if you want to go to a top school that you are taking pretty much the hardest schedule (or if there's 900 ap's available, at least do as much as the other top students).

My school only offers US history ap to sophomores. For instance, at my school Bio A is prerequisite for Bio AP and same with Chem A for Chem AP.

I think the best thing to do would be to do the most ap work you can while still knowing you can get mostly A's, maybe a few B's.

yeah five is excellent for a sophmore, at my school I'm one of the only three sophmores taking two AP classes and everyone thinks we are crazy...

It depends on your school. I think our school offers only one AP for sophomores (unless you are already fluent in a language).

I agreen with eileennosaurus. Some schools offer many APs, and students take multiple courses every year. At my school, one can only take an AP as a sophomore if they take APES instead of H Chem (really, sophomores taking APES are just scared of H Chem, because the average grade in H Chem is really low).
Has school started yet? How do the classes seem so far? If you're already doubting your decision to sign up for 5 APs and an IB, you might want to consider dropping one. If you've been managing the work well, I think that you will be fine.

Stupid sophomores, I still keep calling them freshmen...

it just depends on the school...

at mine sophmores are required to take at least three and five isn't uncommon.

Gryffon, I keep calling them freshmen too, especially in the hallways they get really mad.

Very few sophomores take APs at my school because the only one offered is AP Chem.

no AP's for sophs at my school. But on this forum, a lot of sophs take:

AP Art History
AP World History
AP Music Theory
AP Enviromental Sci.
AP Human Geography

Ya. School started and the only one that could possibly be a problem is stats. I'm taking AP english, AP us govt, AP calc AB (just took a test and got 100 on it), AP stats, and AP art history. Stats is an extremely hard class at our school. It's the hardest math course at our school. However, I have it at a good time. I'm taking art history online (have a 95 at the moment). I think I'm doing fine, but I really won't know until I get to know my teachers a bit more and have tests.

My school doesn't allow sophomores to take AP's. Juniors are only allowed to take 2 (sometimes 3, but very rare) and seniors can take 4.

I agree that it depends. At my school, all pre-IB sophs take AP Euro and AP English Lang. I also took stats, which is popular, as is Enviro, and some take Calc or Physics B.

Us sophomores take the fluffier AP's like psychology, art/world/euro history, geography, etc.

At my school the only possible AP for sophomores is AP World and only if you are a year ahead in history. Other than that I only know one person who took another AP (Calc and Stats) and that was because she is 3 years ahead in math. We are Juniors now and she has completely exhausted the math curriculum at our school.

Compare yourself to other people in your grade. They are set to the same standards as you. Unfortunately, the members of this forum cannot possibly know your school well enough to decide difficulty.

We can only take one AP as a sophomore, and that's only if you're a TAG kid. APUSH

no APs at my school for sophs.

there are too many classes you have to get out of the way first.
you have to get done regular bio before ap bio, regular chem before ap chem, 3 regular englishs before ap english, and so on so on. it's basically just impossible to get to ap's when your a sophomore.

unless you take a tons of college courses at the cc when your a freshman. but i don't know anyone who does that. not enough hours in the day, getting home from school past 5:30.
