I'm thinking of serving my country(S.Korea)'s compulsory military service of 2yrs after my high school graduation. I will apply for the bases near North Korean-South Korean border...fun life ha!
So,,, I'm looking for a good school where I can defer my entrance for 2yrs.
So, I will get acceptance letter, graduate from HS, go to the military for 2yrs, and enter the college as a freshman.

Are there any Ivy league schools allows me to defer 2 years after acceptance?

Option number 1 is pretty funny...hahaha...You know, we are standing against our North Korean friends who are military fricks... do you think
my gov. would let me serve only a year? N.Korea is 9yrs... I feel fortunate
to serve only 2 years.

Oh, you are required by law to serve? From your post, it seemed like you were choosing to serve (meaning you had the option not to go into the service at all). I figured, if you had the choice to avoid service completely, you might also have the option of serving for half the time. But if it's all completely non-negotiable, then I guess that's just how it is, and your colleges are going to have to deal with it. That's odd, though. I know a lot of Korean guys who didn't have to go into the military service. Are you sure you don't have any choice in this?

to the OP, you're a korean citizen right? that's why you have to go, it's required by law for korean citizens who are males.
i did hear however that if you get accepted into college, you can pretty much delay when you're going to go.
also, the colleges you've applied to probably have other korean male citiznes in a similar position, so i'd ask the admissions office. they probably have some standard thing they do about this.

Eli, I think you are talking about Korean-Americans... I do not have Green card or American citizenship...So I go to the military service. Every Korean males, unless they are mentally retarded or physically disabled, should serve the military.

I have a friend who's a Korean citizen, but he moved to the US when he was 8 or so. I know I'm not helping your situation at all here and I'm being OT, but is there anyway to get out of the draft if you have dual citizenship? =( (Not to mention I'm anti-draft, but I don't think my opinion matters here because I'm not Korean-American, lol.)

The Constitution of South Korea does not allow the dual citizenship beyond the age of 18. Thus, there is no adult South Korean citizen holding dual citizenship.
