My daughter prefers rural locations, is a B/B+/A- student, reasonably strong SAT scores (combined 1900) and loves the idea of a 5-year co-op program. She has already submitted applications to Northeastern & Drexel. Are there any other schools in the northeast that are strong on co-op opportunities, offer an IHSA equestrian team (i.e., don't have to own your own horse), and are perhaps a little more suburban than Northeastern or Drexel?

She also needs a school that offers lots of majors. While she is currently thinking math, she has also considered psychology, business/finance, music, and musical theater.

I’m not that familiar with Co-Op, but I did just google it. If she likes the international aspect of that, I would recommend Hartwick College. It’s in upstate New York and has a very beautiful campus. It’s in Oneonta, which is pretty rural but it is also a college town (with Hartwick and SUNY Oneonta). It’s about 30 minutes from Rochester, though, so it’s not too bad. They have J-Term, which is this: [Hartwick-Off-Campus J Term Programs](http://www.hartwick.edu/admissions/study-abroad-admissions/off-campus-j-term-programs)
They also have an IHSA equestrian team (and I know you don’t need your own horse because I’ve asked!) and a reasonable amount of majors.
I don’t know if she needs money, but with her stats she can expect at least $20,000-22,000 per year for four years.

I am not really familiar with the co-ops either, but for those majors she might want to look at Drew University. They have business, music, theater arts, and psychology. Their equestrian team is competitive within Zone 3, region 3 I believe (they just changed from zone 2, region 1). It has a lovely suburban campus in Madison, NJ and is just a short train ride to NYC for other opportunities. Her stats would be in range for Drew.

I believe Wilson College in Chambersburg PA specializes in equestrian programs. It is right off of I-81 in a pretty town 10 minutes north of the Maryland border.

SLU & Alfred do not have Co-op Programs that I know of (I could be wrong)

But I have a SLU grad among my 4 children & I grew up 60 miles from SLU.
I have a Sophomore at Alfred University, a wonderful school, too.
Please feel free to send me Private Message about either school!
