Northeastern Fall 2013 Transfer Page

Yes and no

once all the “required documents” are in, it’ll display a little message that says “thank you for blah blah”

but nothing else on there changes, except non-required documents might pop up suddenly, and dates may change, but nothing noticeable.

From what i can tell, you’ll wake up one day with an email in your box saying “check your portal” and your portal will suddenly say “CONGRATS!” or “SORRY!”

kinda like checking the inside of a Cap’n Crunch box, heh

maaaan, all i wanna do is be crunchetized already

Oh and if you happen to log in and the portal isn’t available, then you will get 0 sleep that evening.

GreogryPanic what are your stats? Did you also apply to the Business school?

Guys I have a question, I have applied NEU as a transfer student, I’ve completed all my required materials March 15. Also my brother applied as a transfer student, unfortunately, his first name and last name are same as me, and we both applied from same university. My brother mailed his materials a week later than me. Here is the problem, my brother called admission to ask if they have received his materials, because his check status was not updated for 2weeks, one of officer said that his materials( transcript, Rec, College report…) were in my folder, they were confused our materials. I understand that it could happen because his first name and last name are same, and also same university. But my question is that they even did not notice and I didn’t get any notice from them that his materials were in my folder before my brother called admission, is that mean my application was not even under review? I guess if my application was under review, they should have known that another college transcript was in my application.
I have completed my materials 15 of March.

you and your brother have the same name, AND are attempting to transfer from the same university?

i have no professional experience with college admissions, but, from what i know about the process, i can imagine that your situation could be pretty confusing to the officials. you might want to call the office of admissions in order to make sure things are properly sorted out

I agree with hopefullyfesh …

You should call right away to make sure all the documents you sent are in YOUR file and maybe reference your middle name, assuming you both don’t have the same middle name as well.

Thanks for replying guys, yes, we have same first, last name and even got our recommendation letter from same professor, haha,
since college transcript only shows first name and last name they could be confused, but
I guess if they have reviewed my application, they should have known that something is wrong, because my brother and I have taken different classes, and there are also completely different in progress course works.(we are supposed to write progress course works in college official report and Common app form) Actually I called every day to check my application status after I completed my application, and more than two weeks ago they said that my application was under review, but today, I’ve just found that my brother’s application materials were in my file. Is it common that school reviews applicants’ application after more than two weeks despite they were completed?

@ AustinU - No I applied to CCIS for Computer Science

I’m a non traditional student.

Veteran, 6 years US Navy
2 Classes @ Hawaii Pacific University (both 3.5+, but only 6 credits)
2 CLEPS over creditable scores
Number of Navy Classes which have ACE accreditation for around 30 credits (no score)
5 Years of software development experience included with my resume.
2 Letters of Recommendation, both from PHD Candidates, 1 a senior researcher i work with, 1 an O-4 in the Navy who graduated from University of Rochester.
Did not have to submit SAT/ACT/HS Transcripts

so yeah i have no idea what to expect. NEU is my reach school

Everything got to Northeastern today and there are no more required documents. Although, it does not say Thank You blah blah blah. Should I be concerned and call? I want them to start reviewing my application ASAP! Also they said 2-4 weeks until I get notified with the decision…I hope it is just two weeks =/

You know what, i just kinda assumed it was different cause I never really checked before hand.

I just have this at the top:

Thank you for applying to Northeastern University, we are looking forward to reviewing your completed application. Please note the following information:

then nothing under

Required Documents
Highly Recommended Documents

so if that’s the case, then you’re good to go.

That said, you should still call them and go line-by-line through every piece of information you sent. “Did you get this? this? that? this? that? this? that? that? this? ok cool thank you for taking the time!”

guys my status check isnt opening, does that mean the decision is coming soon?

i believe so! ah, i envy you

@GregoryPanic That sounds extraordinary. You’re definitely going to get in. And I’m not just saying that.

@vish93 - yup, usually means you’ll get an answer really soon. Hope you get Crunchatized.

@AustinU - hope so, i’m like 50/50 on how optimistic I am.

@vish93 let us know the decision!

i have called them just now
they said they will clear the check list this week if they have received your documents

few minutes after my call, they have checked off some of the received documents in my list!

so i think we should better call them.

One thing everyone should remember is that the admissions counselor you speak with on the phone is NOT the person who makes the decision. They file the paperwork and ensure the entire package is ready to be reviewed by the person or committee that does decide.

It will absolutely NOT hurt your chances of getting in if you take the time to check, check again, triple check, quadruple check that all your documents are in. In fact, it can really only help your chances.

Isn’t Rasheeda Clayton the one who reviews them?

I believe she is one of them. I’m sure there are more people involved, given the size of the university.

But I’ve spoken to a number of counselors on the phone regarding a number of questions. You don’t have to speak with the person actually reviewing your package to get good information. Their staff is quite good.
