Recently I visited both Northeastern and BU and I am having a hard time deciding which one I liked better! I feel like a lot of people who apply to one of these, most likely decided between the two, and I am wondering why you prefer one over the other.

So why do you prefer Northeastern or BU and why??

If you search, there should be a ton of threads about this just to get more insight!

What’s your major?

I chose NU over BU and cannot imagine being at BU right now (but hey, I could be saying the same thing in the reverse situation). The NU campus feels like a campus while you’re still smack dab in the middle of the city-- I loooooove that (lots of greenery on campus!). And, I feel that without the co-op program, for me personally, I wouldn’t have any idea what I want to do with my life. I’m applying for my first co-op now, and it’s really exciting to get my feet wet in areas I didn’t think of. Above all, the reason I chose NU was because of its commitment to international experience. The Dialogue of Civilizations program is amazing, and I’m planning on hopefully doing my last two co-ops abroad (with a traditional semester abroad mixed in too).

I’m really, really glad that I’m not at BU. I feel that NU is a lot more up and coming and on a great trajectory (it’s improving quite significantly year to year while BU has been a bit more stagnant IMO).

But it would help to know what you’re interested in to give a better response :)

They both have great campuses, (I do think NU is slightly prettier). But it all comes down to your major. Northeastern has a phenomenal pharmacy program. Boston University has a wonderful occupational therapy program.

BU’s campus is… Boston. And plenty of people prefer that. There’s really not a BU campus. Northeastern is extremely well integrated into the city while still having a semi-traditional campus feel with green quads and whatnot. You really have to visit both to see which is for you.
