Nothing here either! Well if it goes like last years thread they will go right up till the 15th. I feel frustrated and sorry everyone else is feeling this way.
Ya I was really counting on hearing back something today. I am in a summer course that I will need to have completed if I need to stay at my current school in the fall, but I won’t it if I get accepted to NU, and of course the last day to drop it without penalty is tomorrow. GG.
Anyone have high hopes for today? Or this week at all?
Nope, after they failed to release yesterday, breaking the every other Tuesday scheme they had going, I have no expectations now other than hopefully by June 15th.
I don’t think I can stomach another day like yesterday, I was convinced I was going to know one way or the other by the end of the day when I woke up.
I really just want to show up at admissions in person.
I will say though, the NEU Financial aid department has been somewhat difficult to work with. They are helpful, but when you send them something through either e-mail or fax, it is best to call the financial aid office the day after and ask them if they received the documents, because there were times where I would send important documents that they would need for my financial aid profile, and they would never receive them, and it would became a waiting game.
My financial aid profile was started on 5/11/15, and by the day that I declined my enrollment (yesterday), it still wasn’t completed. My enrollment deposit was due June 1st, so I asked for an extension, and they gave me one (until June 8th) and they told me it would still be at least another week until they would be able to let me know what my final package was. I guess I sort of got tired of waiting around, and I figured they wouldn’t give me another extension, so I guess that kind of factored into declining my admission.
Under my terms of admissions it said that my enrollment deposit was due by June 1st and I got accepted april 27th. Maybe they’ve got a sense of how many people who won’t be going now and will do another wave soon so be hopeful
I finally broke down and sent my admissions counselor an email. I was sent another financial aid email last week - this time FAFSA
Worded in such a way that I asked how I could help them and any more info I could give - FA or otherwise.
between NEU, BU, and NYU… where would you guys go?
@transfer1996 depends on what you’re majoring in. honestly, NYU probably has the most oomph for a resume by name alone. However, the co-op experience at NU is irreplaceable and any employer will be impressed of a year/year and a half of paid job experience in your future field during your college years. personally, i would go to NU because i’m already familiar with boston and i think with this job market, anything to get ahead on a resume (co-ops) is going to pack a competitive punch. however, NYU is probably a slightly better school in general, has a wider array of options for majors, and also infinite opportunities right out the door in NYC. i would consider these things: how much the built-in co-ops would work for your resume as opposed to independently finding internships at NYU, which school caters to your major better, which city will bring you the best extra-curricular opportunities, and, of course, how much money you’re willing to shell out to each school.
@transfer1996 I agree with what @theodora96 said; it really depends on what your major is, and what you plan on doing with your major. I chose BU because their COM school is one of the top communications schools in the country. I could essentially get an internship anywhere I wanted with BU. NYU is very similar in those aspects. And obviously, nothing rivals NEU’s co-op program. It all depends on what you specifically want.
@transfer1996 I would go to NYU! Just for the single fact that I love NYC and that’s my vote!
Keep an eye on your portals this weekend, I visited admissions today. They told me I should hear by Monday (although I’m still not getting my hopes up haha)
@boston1418, really? They would do it over the weekend? Good for you that you went in, were they nice?
@talkderbytome Yeah, I’m just outside of Providence, so I went up for a day trip. I mainly talked to the secretary, chatted briefly with an admissions counselor (Ms. Brown), and they seemed as nice as any other admissions office.
They said there wasn’t any reason it’s taking so long (I guess it’s standard procedure), but they said they were trying to get decisions out “sooner than later” (they seemed to be aiming for the end of the week).
She also told me to email her by Monday if I haven’t heard anything, but I’m not sure if that timeline is just for me or for the majority.
And for everyone still waiting to hear back: Try not make the admissions office out to be some big bad wolf, I really believe they’re trying to fit everyone in (some just take longer than others I guess :D)
I’ll keep you guys updated if I hear anything!
@boston1418, thanks for the feedback! Good luck to you!
Ive actually gotten to the point where i’m not even nervous anymore. Like it really feels like i’m never going to hear from them again and ive just kind of accepted it. I know its not true obviously, but its just been so long and arduous. I just want an answer and two and a half months from applying just feels like too long to wait. It’s not really NUs fault, I’m just reaching a point of extreme impatience and frustration
I’ve been kinda silently watching this thread. It is odd that NEU would opt to wait this long to inform us, as most other universities have already let us know. I got into UCLA, but i’d really like to do NEU’s program for Composition and Technology… Hopefully we’ll hear something soon!
I’ve also been silently watching the thread. Gonna throw out an optimistic view. Maybe they’re gonna send out a bunch of decisions tonight that way they don’t have to deal with all of our phone calls and emails right away as the admissions office will be closed for the weekend.
Lol i love how we’re just getting on this. I’ve been reading this thread since jrolls made the first post. Oh well, fk it.
