Junior year I started a program called middle college where I finished all my high school requirements at a community college. This allowed me to pursue my passion for finance. The problem arises because it’s such a new program that my counselors messed up my weighted grades. Most college classes (which lasted a semester) would be weighted as a full year (two semesters of high school classes). That being said I will tell my GPA if it was fixed vs what was exactly put on my transcript.
I did not take the SAT or ACT.\
Transcript GPA: 3.45
Transcript Weighted: 3.5
True GPA: 3.85

I’m not sure about Silicon Valley area, but NU cs is widely recognized in Boston Area and it is not too hard to find co-ops. Since if you are going for Silicon Valley, the companies have to provide you with housings, transportation, and more… it would be harder in the area.
I know of NU students who have had co-ops at SpaceX, Google, and Apple in California for starters. But there are also co-ops on the west coast at venture capital firms, biotech firms, and university research labs as well as a whole host of industries outside of “big tech”.
For the record I don’t think your comment is rude. You seem to be simply commenting on top college real attitude towards TO, not the 1200 score itself. But actually lots of top schools are accepting TO applicants. Don’t really have a choice this year.
got it-- thanks. It’s true though. Plenty of the TO applicants have test scores that would eliminate them from consideration, but they didn’t have to submit them this year. I’d call that luck-- and nothing wrong with being lucky!
I don’t think it’s luck. I have a low test score but I got to take it one single time. My test got cancelled 5 times. I’d call it fair. She had great stats that were extremely impressive. Had the SAT been more accessible this year she and many others would likely be able to raise the score.
Yeah I get it, my D was in the same boat. 1 sitting then 4-5 cancellations. I don’t think too many raise their scores 200+ points across sittings though. Maybe 40-80 points is more normal. I agree this year TO was the only fair way to go. (and still lucky for some people.)
