Has anyone heard anything about any decisions coming out tonight, or are we guessing it will not be until next week?
Nothing here (from New York State)
Daughter accepted to N.U.in a few days ago. Options are Spain, Madrid, and Ireland. Is there any way to tell which ones are full or open before committing?
My understanding is you can look in the NUin portal, but I am not exactly sure.
No specific deadline for RD right? So different from three years ago when my son found out in December. Has number of applications gone up a lot?
Yes, total apps is like 96,000 combined!
Decisions are out!
Has anyone heard anything about the National Merit Finalist Scholarship yet?
My son did last week. $15k a year. He was admitted to Boston ED1 and didnât get any other aid.
15 k /year for national merit finalists? Is that in top of any other merit NE already offered?
According to the NU parent group, itâs $30k for National Merit Scholarship finalists. My son got a $15k Deanâs Scholarship a few years ago - 34 ACT, 4.0 unweighted, 4.4 weighted GPA, AP Scholar, team captain, and National Merit Commended.
Was this for a past year? This year, I have only heard $15k.
A parent of an accepted student posted recently in the NU Parents Facebook group they got $30k for NM Finalist.
My D was admitted early action when she was Nm semifinalist and received 30k/year. It didnât say anything about National merit. We assumed that that was the maximum merit she would get with or without NM finalist status. Am I correct? Or can she get 30k âextraâ as a NM finalist on top of what she was already offered?
He didnât get any other aid or scholarship.
No, the aid does not stack. If you select Northeastern as your first choice there may be a small increase in the aid.
There is no longer any guaranteed amount of scholarship for NMF at NU. I have not seen that NMF amount of $30k on the parent FB page but my guess is it replaced other merit or need based aid the student got upon admissions. NMF amounts in the last couple of years have maxed at around $15k if no merit was originally given, or up to $5k added to original FA or merit. NMF does not stack.
About ten years ago NMF at NU was full tuition, then $30k and now just a competitive amount⊠but it has definitely been trending down. Personally I think it makes sense given that the school has been focusing more on need based aid, and with more TO, it does not make sense to reward test scores. Imo.
according to NU, this year the max merit is $28k bit if your need was around $30k, I could see them adjusting that up a bit. Or was your child NMF? They may have increased their scholarship up a bit for NMF. That would be consistent with what others have reported.
Wondering how many if who got into Boston campus were test optional (minus recruits of course).
Maybe it was 28 k and not 30k? Could be that Iâm mistaken about the exact amount. When she received that merit offer she was a semifinalist, we havenât seen any change since she received finalist status, but she hasnât designated NU as first choice. I was wondering how urgent is to designated as first choice
