Northeastern University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2023 Admission

Does anyone on this thread know if the cap for AP and Dual Enrollment credits to transfer in is 32 total? I am confused if my DS could bring in 32 AP credits AND also his Dual Enrollment credits on top of those 32?

Northeastern Oakland offers Off-Campus receptions, just enter the zip code in your portal. I saw Pasadena receptions on 4/10 and San Diego on 4/11.

Registrar can confirm but I think AP credit is capped at 32 credits, I have seen some parents state their kid got more accepted bc of dual enrollment (which makes sense bc those are actually college courses.) you can look at the transfer credit charts to see your college and what courses are accepted for what equivalents.

Hi, how is the academic advising in CSSH? My child indicated a major on his application because he felt he had to, but in reality he has no idea what he wants to study. What resources are available to help him decide? He is not in the explore program.

Agreed. I would not count on a transfer to Boston.

My son started in the Explore program and is now in CSSH. The Explore advising is better. There is a pretty low student to advisor ratio and the students take a first semester class designed to help with major selection. I wonder if it’s possible to switch to Explore if he is undecided? My son was reluctant to declare a major and leave the good advising but he did so at the end of first year to get on a co-op cycle.

My son (who applied EA and was deferred to RD) received this email yesterday so it sounds like decisions could come anytime between now and April 1st but based on past years most will come on 3/30 & 3/31 I’m guessing? My son had planned on writing a “why Northeastern” essay back when he was deferred but it’s been a crazy few months with gymnastics, pit orchestra and just keeping up with classes so it never materialized and probably too late at this point anyway. Hopefully he still has a shot.

Dear Students and Families,

Thank you for your application to Northeastern University. We would like to share an important update with you ahead of our upcoming Regular Decision release. Please read this message thoroughly.

Decision Release
Decisions for all applicants who applied or were deferred to Regular Decision will be released in waves over the coming weeks. All applicants will be notified of their admission decision via email by April 1.

Admissions decisions for Regular Decision applicants include:

Enrollment Opportunities
As you are aware, from submitting your application, students join the Northeastern community through a variety of enrollment pathways. During the application process, you were asked to indicate your preference for an enrollment program. While preferences are considered in the application review, applicants are reviewed for all available enrollment pathways and may receive an admission decision that does not match their indicated preference.

Each application was carefully reviewed with the goal of building a diverse community with intellectually motivated and engaged students. Please remember our decisions reflect the full applicant pool and our enrollment goals; they are not a reflection of individual applicants’ accomplishments.

Please visit our website for more detailed information about each enrollment opportunity. If you have additional questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 617.373.2200 or admissions@northeastern.edu.

Sincerely,

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Northeastern University

That might be frustrating
or maybe they will be releasing results from particular programs in chunks
but I am sure they have so many apps they are dealing with. Good luck!

Got the same email, and i was also deferredl!!! For EA decisions “waves” ended up being one day of decisions and then a day of waiting for everyone and then another batch of decisions. Hopefully it’s different RD. Does anyone know when the waves might start?

So far none in Boston.

Wow. Is there a different board you are seeing this on? And I guess you are right that’s all that’s left :joy:

Looks like people in state are getting acceptances today.
Someone on Reddit said they had a tab for admitted students events somewhere on the portal but it doesn’t let them click.

Thank you!!

I found this article about EA college admissions (in general, nothing specific about Northeastern) insightful and somewhat of a push for more transparency in the admissions process. Not sure things will change, but it is interesting.
