Northeastern University Transfer Fall 2019

Oh man this is exciting. NEU is my first choice right now for their data science and biochem program.

Im throwing my stats on here if anyone wants to give feedback:

Major: Economics
College GPA: 3.8, should be closer to 3.9 by the end of this semester
Extracurriculars: Social Media Manager for campaign finance reform organization and an internship type program with the governor’s campaign.
I think my essays are pretty good but we’ll see.
My only problem is they said they need my college report but it was sent it weeks ago and my college official even got a verification email that it was received so im in the process of helping them locate it, Hopefully that isn’t held against me.

But yeah the more I think about Northeastern the more excited I get, it seems to be a great place with amazing opportunities. Fingers crossed for everybody

Does anyone think decisions will come out today?

Here are my stats as well for feedback:

Major: Media and Screen Studies

HS GPA: 3.33 Unweighted, 3.75 Weighted
Attended a public college prep high school so my grades were not stellar

HS Activities:
National Honors Society
Student Government
Drama Club
Yearbook Editor
HS Student of the Month
High School Media and Television Student of the Year: Senior Year
3rd in District Wide Film Festival

My test scores were not stellar: 24 ACT, 1200 SAT but I have been at community college for two years and have more than 30 credits so I don’t think they will look at them.

Post-high school career:

GPA: 3.848 Unweighted
Honors College Attendee
President’s Scholarship Recipient
Held Internship for 1 year at local media and graphic design company
Volunteered on three different political campaigns during 2018 midterm elections (1 governors race, 1 state house, 1 state senate)
Freelance photographer for portraits and theater productions

Does anyone have any ideas when they will start releasing decisions? Also, does anyone know if NEU helps you find housing off campus because they don’t offer housing to transfer students at all? I can’t go there if I have nowhere to live and Boston is sooooooo expensive.

@dh1230 I know they have an off campus resource but I don’t know how much of a help it is. I’m in a couple facebook groups looking for housing and it seems like if you share a bedroom you can get pretty inexpensive housing, I’d suggest joining a couple groups like that.

@dh1230 I know I’m getting so impatient and am afraid of not getting housing! I hope I don’t hear back on June 15th, because I have deposits due on June 1st for other schools

@kbot9929 Me too! I need to do the math so I can figure out where I can go

My best guess for release dates would be this upcoming Friday.

I have not taken two recommended courses however, I will be taking them in the summer. They do show up on my transcript and I have already signed up for those classes. Do you guys think I will be okay?

when are we going to start to hear back ?

Hopefully decisions won’t be June 15th but since they mentioned that date I feel like they wont be coming out soon.

Its rolling. My friend last year applied during her spring break and got in on May 18th. June 15th is the date they guarantee a decision by. I bet they will start in the next 2 weeks. They won’t all come out at once.

the admitted rate last year was 32% with a 3.6 average GPA. And the decision will actually be released by June 1st, not June 15th.

@hopefull7890

Are those numbers specifically for transfers?

@OwlOfAthena yes I believe so it’s on the website.

Do they get our final grades as well or just take our midterm reports?

@TTTransfer10 You must submit a final transcript.

@TomSrOfBoston do they use that in their decision for transfers?

@TTTransfer10 most likely not because most people won’t have their final transcript in before decisions come out. The final transcript is mainly so your credits can transfer, and the only way I’d think it would affect an admissions decision is if the grades dramatically dropped…
