Northeastern vs. Stevens for Music and Technology

Up until the middle of last week, I was certain that I was attending Stevens. Aside from Lafayette (too expensive), it was the only college I was accepted to that I was excited about possibly attending. It also has one of the higher-ranked Music & Tech programs in the country. I ended up getting off the waitlist at Northeastern, however, and I’ve been flip-flopping between the two schools since. Aside from the ivies, NEU was my number one choice throughout the application process. While their M/T program isn’t as widely known as Stevens’, their co-op list is impressive and I was always drawn to the way they structured their courses.

The cost is one of the biggest issues between both schools. Stevens would only cost around $35k while Northeastern would cost $70k. Stevens seems like the obvious choice on a lot of different fronts but the things that keep pulling my mind towards NEU are the larger student presence, greater range of non-STEM majors (if I end up needing to change), and campus. I really enjoyed my visit to NEU, never got to visit Stevens. Having a really difficult time trying to pick one, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Also, I’ve already contacted the FA office at NEU. The most they said they could do was put in an appeal for merit aid  but it was worth a shot. Haven’t found out what came of that and not sure when/if I will.
