Northeastern VS Tulane Tranfer

Hi there! I’ve been accepted to both A.B. Freeman (Tulane) and D’Amore McKim (Northeastern) as a business major transfer. I love both schools and cities, but I’m having a really hard time picking…cost is about the same with aid and doesn’t really weigh that much of an impact. If anyone has any insight please share!

Weather is a big tie breaker. Blizzards or hurricanes? Humidity or blistering cold? I love both cities so I don’t say that as a slam to either place. Does Tulane’s public service appeal to you?

@Sportsman88 the public service does appeal to me, but the co-op program appeals to me as well

Where you want to be after graduation is important too. Both have better reputations in their respective regions.

^^ @pengsphils that is very important and one of the factors we’re pushing with our daughters. We’ve lived all over so they’ve been exposed to all corners of the country. Deciding where you want to settle (if you get to do such a thing) should be a factor in college location at least for a tie breaker.

Flip a coin.

I’m not saying flip a coin to make the final decision. I’m saying flip a coin, then pretend to yourself that you’ve made that decision in your head, and sit with it for a day or two (longer if you have the time). Imagine yourself there, imagine yourself wearing the sweatshirt and writing it on resumes, flip through the course catalog, read through the requirements of your major. How do you feel? Then do the same thing with the other one.

I think deciding where you want to settle as a 20-year-old is difficult. If you had asked me when I was 20 I would’ve said New York; I did end up there, and quickly tired of it by the time I was 25. (Moreover, I went to college in Georgia, grad school in New York and now I live in Washington state.) Of course it’s true that being able to network locally helps, but with schools like Northeastern and Tulane you could end up anywhere in the country. So I wouldn’t let that limit you - a Tulane grad could end up in Boston (in fact, I know one) and a Northeastern grad could end up in LA…if they wanted to.
