Hi guys,
I am an international transfer student
For me, the environment is the most factor to decide where to go
However, I have no spare time to visit each of them. (spending lots of money as well)
I am accepted by UMD and Tulane right now and i haven’t heard back from Northeastern and UGA.
I am pretty confident that UGA will accept me (80%) but worried about Northeastern (25% will accept me)
prefer to go to Northeastern cuz I really like the city of Boston.
major in business (finance or marketing)
Any suggestion? or anyone wants to promote his/her school??
BTW, I am kinda nervous cuz the decision day for UMD and Tulane is 6/1 but I haven’t heard back from Northeastern
THX!!!
Right now you can choose between UMD and Tulane. Is one cheaper? Is one easier to get to? Has one indicated that it will probably accept more of your transfer credits? Does one have better weather? What do you know about the two places?
Then if you still have not heard from Northeastern or UGA by 6/1, go ahead an make your deposit at either Tulane or UMD. If you are admitted by Northeastern and/or UGA later, you can decide to cancel your enrollment at the first place you deposited to if you want to go elsewhere.
@happymomof1 Thank you so much, but I actually know nothing about those two places. I have never been two east coast lol I am an international student. yeah i might pay the deposit for UMD if Northeastern did not reply me by 6/1.
Can anyone analysis UMD and Tulane? pros and cons
Internship and job placement: Contact the Career Center at each university and ask where students from your country who have your major find internships and jobs. Make it clear that you are an international student so that they don’t give you information that is for US students who don’t need work permission.
Graduate school placement: Contact your department at each university, and ask where students from your country who have your major go on to graduate school. Find out if those students received any funding for grad school, and if so what kind of grades they had.
Transportation: Check kayak.com, amtrak.com, megabus.com, and other travel websites to look at travel costs between these locations and other places that you need or want to get to.
Weather: Do some research on weather all year round with weather.com
Local and regional news: http://www.nola.com/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/
Tulane is in one of the most charming cities in the US. UMD-CP is a few Metro stops away from the nation’s capitol. Unless one or the other is specifically better for your major, you probably can’t go wrong with either choice.
