northeastern?

Alright, so my boyfriend just put in his transfer application to Northeastern University for Spring transfer '08, architecture major. His high school GPA is a 2.3
ACT 28, and the one and only AP class he took was Environmental Science
and he got a 4. He has a few honors classes, and he went a prestigious
private prep school in az. He's got a lot of community service both in the US and in latin america, and he was both extremely involved in and the president of tech theater for the last two years. Over the summer he interned at a well known architecture firm in az and one of his recommendations came from the owner of the firm. Right now he's at the school of the art
institute of chicago. It's a well known art school, but they don't have the classes he wants, the students are apathetic, the teachers are horrid, and he's just generally miserable there. This school does not believe in grades so he doesn't have a college gpa He won't be allowed to meet with his academic advisor or his counselor until december, so the forms they filled out were pointlessly checked "no basis for recommendation". What are his chances of getting into Northeastern?
He desperately wants to go there and his essay is pretty good.
Any and all advice is appreciated!

One of my friends was accepted into Northeastern with a 3.2 weighted gpa and a ACT 23 with a couple of ECs primarily revolving around the music program.

He was accepted.

Not sure if that helps, but hey, any information is good, right?

All i'm sure of is that his ACT is fine. The only thing holding him back is definitely the GPA. Is that weighted, or unweighted?

Thank You very very much for your quick reply :)
His unweighted is 2.3, his weighted is 3.0.
Which one do they use to make decisions?

He can request grades from his art school though, and he's guestimating that
if he did he would have around a 3.7 college gpa but that's in all art classes
and one rhetoric class. The problem is that he won't get them until
January 20th or later and their transfer application is due on January 15th :(

Is your friend a MA resident? Does he/she have legacy at Northeastern?
My boyfriend is also first generation college if that means anything.
Thanks again!

He has no legacy and he lived in Florida.
