Northridge vs UoP

I recently found out that I am accepted into the Music Therapy programs at University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA) and CSU Northridge (Northridge, CA). I am having a lot of trouble making a decision and am afraid to make the wrong one just because of money... financially, I would be paying 8,000 a year for UoP compared with the + 10,000 I would get from Cal Grant if I attend Northridge... that 10,000 would be in addition to scholarship money I still might get.

Well, besides not wanting to live with debt after college, I have so many questions. I am thinking about a few of important factors:

At which of the two schools will my education be better?
If I am really in charge of making the most of my own education, does that mean it doesn't matter which institution I choose? What are the real benefits of going to a small private school over a state school and vice versa? Can I get the support I need at both places? Should I need very much support at all if I plan to immerse myself in my studies and mostly seek resume building experiences? Will I make better professional connections at one place over the other?

Which place is better to live?
Stockton is very close to home since I live near San Francisco. Northridge is farther from home, which is enticing. It's also close to Los Angeles which is exciting. Will my opportunities be better in Stockton or Northridge?

Since I want to go to grad school, will where I am coming from be a big factor?

Congratulations, theraflute. I have added your acceptances over at the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1427644-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2013-a-44.html

Please let us know about any other music school acceptances if you have any.

I cannot answer most of your questions because I am not very familiar with the music therapy major and those schools in particular. Avoiding undergrad debt is usually a very wise thing to do, particularly if you know you will be going on for a masters degree. Where you are coming from is usually less important than what you bring with you.

I’d love to know what the outcome of this is. My daughter was accepted in UOP and NOT Northridge. (school cuts) she is devastated so I’d love to hear some good info on UOP?
