Northwestern 2010, Let's Talk!

Fellow Wildcats, what is up? I got my acceptance letter today and I am pumped. I visited Evanston this past summer and I must say, IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!! I am excited to meet you all, and start the best four years of our LIVES. If any of you want to just talk or get to know each other a little better just holla! I plan to major in Economics, anyone else out there interested in this? What do I want out of Northwestern.......(1) work hard and set myself up for a successful career (2) Meet some new people (3) WILDCATS FOOTBALL @ RYAN'S FIELD! By the way, any of you guys like to party? I'm going to need some pregaming buddies before Football Games. Enjoy the last few months of high school, and I look foward to meeting you all next year! PEACE '10 W'Cats.

Hey,
I was not going to reply to this thread until I read the part about the partying...Now, I'm a little more interested in meeting you. Haha...I'd be happy to enjoy a little pregaming with you before those football games...

Yeah, I am all for pregaming. I'm an econ major too, so we probably have some classes toghether. Anybody know when we can palce orders on tickets?

NU football games are amazing. I go as much as I can (I live 20 min north of Evanston.)

Go Wildcats 2010!

It seems to be a joke in the NU forums that everyone who got accepted was a journalism major (like me), but I'm glad to see there are others (like you guys) who are into economics. And parties. And football games. I'm from a tiny town, so things like parties and football games are familiar territories. This is a wierd question, and I know I'm going to sound like a dumbass because next year I'm going to a school within the immediate vicinity of Chicago, but how far away are outdoor-type things to do? Are there mountains in Illinois? And if so, would anyone be up for some mudding?

Errr.... no mountains. Chicago/Illinois is as flat as.... the flattest thing you can think of. You'd be hard pressed to find anything over about a 100 ft over sea level, I'd venture to say.

Aww...journalism major here. Don't eat me up alive!

At the suggestion of a friend, I now have a facebook. What about y'all? I guess... we could get to know each other there also? But I'd definitely feel weird if I was the only one to post it up. So, I'll just wait to see the opinions/results.

AND we could form a CC group! haha

RHandscom:

Yeah, it's true about Illinois being flat. I've lived here all my life (chicago is next door to Evanston) and I can honestly say that you will not encounter any mountains.

However: there is stuff to do outdoors. Plenty of woodsy hiking trail areas, amazing beaches and beach-y stuff (thanks to Lake Michigan.) There's a whole set of ravines near where I live where you can walk. If you take a weekend and go up north a little ways, there's skiing (although it's obviously not the Rockies or anything.) Out west there's some camping sights, like Starved Rock etc. In the summer, sailing and canoing are really big (at least for people on the lake like where I am from.)

Also, keep in mind that college IS about new experiences. Remember that chicago itself is an amazing cultural center as well. Honestly, I know I may be biased, but it's really an incredible city. There are tons of awesome museums, parks, stores, theaters, clubs, restaurants and a million other attractions. I know that coming from a smaller town, you'd want to keep doing outdoorsy stuff. But even if that's not satisfactory (which let's face it, although it has its moments, Chicago ain't exactly Yellowstone) I can guarantee you'll still find lots of great stuff to do.

Oh yeah, and sorry about the double post but i should mention:

Illinois has plenty of farms. Cow-tipping is also another great weekend pastime. :)

Ha ha, cows are scary. My economics teacher always reminices about his days of milking them (that's straight up hick for you). And for the record, I set up my facebook earlier tonight. It seems kind of confusing and boring. I prefer myspace.

Ok, so I'm excited to hear you all like to party because I was worried this school would be too intellectual BUT I AM NOT DOWN FOR MUDDING AT ALL. ALL THOSE NOT FOR MUDDING CAN CHILL WITH ME. Anyone else from New York by the way, I'm from Long Island?

I'm from east islip, LI. How about you?

I am from Merrick, nice to know some other LI'ers are going.

Pittsburgh, PA

So... since I like mudding does that mean I've been ex-communicated already?

Not at all, however, when those who wish to go mudding, go, ill have to have some fellow non-mudders to hang back with! I am not prejudiced against MUDDERS!!!!!!!!

cc is not exactly the best place for northwestern acceptees to socialize lol. Facebook, however, is! i donno about u guys but pretty much the first thing i did after i got my letter was set up an email addy and make a facebook loll. and hundreds of other class of 2010ers did too. we shud make a facebook group for cc'ers or somethin, that would be tight lol.

see ya next year guys, congrats :-)

Alright, I made it. Haha.

CollegeConfidential helped me get into college!
http://northwestern.facebook.com/group_profile.php?gid=9374 (I'm not sure if the link would work. If it doesn't, just search "CollegeConfidential")
^ That's a group in facebook

Go search that and we can communicate and learn about each other! There's also a message board there too!

Join people! Or else I'll seem really lame being the only member in a group I created...

im the only one who has joined so far. cc ppl are lame. why dont u kids make some facebooks. and sneezy, you should put up a pic lol

I would if I had one! haha. I'm assuming you're Hasan (because you're from IL and the only other member didn't know about the facebook). I added you as a friend!
