Same here. It clearly says that we have to accept the waitlist now and then reconfirm the waitlist after April 15 after getting the college decisions from other colleges even to be considered. They are clearly yield protecting and I am predicting that they will accept you of the waitlist if you write a LOCI and reconfirm after April 15.
excuse me? those are my stats and my weighted gpa is indeed a 4.76. i took ap chemistry which is a double period class so it weighs more
Waitlist over here.

Are you sure? Also, do you know how many are on the waitlist?
I donât know how many are there in the waitlist, but am certain that they are yield protecting. Otherwise they have no reason to make you accept the waitlist and confirm it after Apri 15. They even mentioned it in the letter that we have to confirm after receiving decisions to be considered for the admission. Also they stated that if you had got into the college of your choice and not confirm the waitlist position afterApril 15, then they will take your name of the waitlist. So it is clear yield protection.
ayo same
true true. Although since this year is one like no other, Im pretty sure its there just to make sure the class size is right bc yield is gonna be unpredictable, even for top colleges like Northwestern. Unless I can snag an Ivy/Stanford/USC, Iâm gonna stay on the waitlist, write my loci, and hope for the best
That really is the way to go. Get in touch with the AO directly for the LOCI.
Got rejected. I really didnât want to go to the windy, cold school anyway.
Hi, any reason you are placing USC ahead of NU? Feel free to PM me if the reason is personal. Thank you!
waitlisted, wouldâve made no sense anyway. seems like quite a few were waitlisted. What is protecting yield - is yield the percentage of kids who attend from accepted ones? Then waitlisting does not help that does it? It does help acceptance rate percentage though.
yes, and waitlist helps in case expected yield is higher than actual yield
protecting yield is rejecting students who seem like they will not come if accepted
Hi, assuming I get the choice between NU and USC and costs are equal, I would most likely pick USC for one main reason:
- I live pretty close to NU (<1 hour) and would like to venture out, hopefully somewhere warmer!
I would also love to be in USCâs marching band, but honestly NUâs is fantastic as well. With that said, I really like NU and think it would be a pretty good fit for me, so Iâll see what happens!
Schools like NU donât yield protect.
where did i say NU yield protects?
Got rejected
