ohh, okay thanks! When you said it reflects negatively on an applicant if they get too relaxed or let their guard down, I thought you meant that it was not good to get really excited/humorous… that worried me for a second.

Just had my interview today. All of them were alright but be prepared to be probed. The interviews take you where you don’t think you will go or want to go. Also be prepared to start the ball rolling in your 1st interview. You have 3. My first interview was significantly worse than my 2nd and 3rd because I hadn’t eased into the whole process yet.

D had curveball Q. Toughest of all bsmd cuz of popularity, prestige and matching results of Feinberg. Not hopeful i guess.

Yeah, it’s definitely tough to read them(the interviewers). I can’t tell if they liked/hated me. I guess it doesn’t matter as I’ll find out in a couple months.

Has anyone else had an interview? Also, has anyone who has had an interview received a rejection letter or email?

who is going to interview on the 23rd? heard there will a major storm in chicago on Monday.

MDwanaB, that won’t happen till April 1st-ish. Acceptance/Rejections from interviews are sent out at the same time.

Thanks, g35x!

How many are they accepting this year? I know they used to accept 60 and then came down to about 30-40. What is the number this year?

Thanks.

They will accept 40. Probably 25-30 will attend.

Are you positive? 1 of the other HPME applicants aid only 25. Hopefully, you are right.

How do you know that saidu10?

Have you had your interview yet? How’d it go?

Anyone have any idea on how many more interviews still to be conducted for HPME? I understand they interview roughly 100 and admit ~40 for an incoming class of ~30.

Is it Northwestern HPME, WashU, Rice/Baylor or another one? I have no idea.

Difficult to say, but my guess is that HPME students probably have the best numbers and stand out ECs. I also suspect that more people turn down HYPS to go to HPME than RB or PLME. Also PLME does not appear like South East Asians.

Does anyone know how the committee will conduct selection?

For example, I had my interviews (1 with M4, 1 with faculty, 1 with Director Dr. Green, and 1 over a lunch with M2 where all applicants/interviewees were present). How do they make the decision? Does the director alone make her decision or is there a committee at work?

Does the lunch play any role? I asked some deep questions and I know this because the M2s on the other side of the room admitted this. Did this help me or not really?

Utterly confused.

Any interviewees from today willing to share their thoughts, observations?

What do you think about my questions in the previous post? Do you have any answers?

Thanks. :)

^ Which one? Hardest is probably WashU with the least number of admits. HPME is a close second with prolly the most applicants.

I would say that while interviewing or at lunch you are on…every second of your being there is evaluated. So your asking “deep questions” can’t hurt.

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that the Director gets feedback from the faculty as well as the M4 and M2, but makes the final call on the top 30 to 40 that they will admit. It may also be likely that the committee gets together at some point to review interview notes and then decides on the top 30-40 admits.
