Hi everyone,
I’m applying to Northwestern RD. I haven’t seen a thread for RD yet, so I thought I’d start one.

I have gone to two different schools, I went to a regular day school in the Chicago area and transffered my junior year to boarding school.
My recommendations I hope were pretty good as I have good relationships with my history and math teachers.
Hopefully my essays will help my application a lot because I have heard only positive feedback from people.

General Comments: My main concern is my scores, on my school naviance people around me were accepted but looking on past people from college confidential I am worried. My sister got into the school with a 29 ACT and similar GPA to me, we do the same activities, if anything I took harder classes in HS. But then again she did ED. Do you think I have no shot of getting in since I didn’t ED?!

I really want to go to Northwestern. I plan on majoring in Economics with a double major in Radio/Television/Film or a certificate in Integrated Marketing. I was originally born in the Chicago area and really really want to go to Northwestern. What do you think my chances are?
To all those who are posting chance threads,
Northwestern cares a lot a lot and a lot about soft factors like essays, recs, etc. Posting a chance thread with statistics really won’t help you…nor do I think that this is the place to post chance threads. Make a separate discussion thread if you are going to do that (Moderators don’t get made at me for suggesting that please).
Thank you and don’t forget to breathe!
Agreed. One girl I knew had a 35, 1590 and 3.9 UW got rejected ED, so numbers won’t get you into NU
I just got an email to sign up for an interview. As someone who has a bit of difficulty carrying a conversation with strangers, is it worth it to sign up for an interview or would it hurt more than it would help?
@steph1999 An interview will not hurt you but could be used in your favor. Plus signing up for an interview shows that you are really interested in the school
Does anyone know if there was a better chance of getting in early decision than regular? I kinda wish I did ED
There’s always a higher acceptance rate for ED, but that doesn’t mean you as an individual have a greater chance. Yes it may statistically be easier to get in ED, but that is partially due to the fact that a lot of the strongest applicants apply ED. If you are a strong candidate, you likely have a similar chance applying RD as if you had applied ED.
where do you live? i’m trying to get an interview but i’m not sure if it’s just me or my area just doesn’t do interviews
@steph1999 where do you live? i’m trying to get an interview but i’m not sure if it’s just me or my area just doesn’t do interviews
@steph1999 An interview is an opportunity to bring your application to life. I always counsel folks to take it, if offered. If you feel that you are not much of a talker, or would be nervous, then have an adult (not a parent) do a practice interview. Just be prepared for the “Why Northwestern?” question, because you will get that question.
@aussiehopeful22 Whether you receive an interview depends on whether there are alumni interviewers in your geographical vicinity. International students have a different mechanism called InitialView. http://admissions.northwestern.edu/apply/admission-interviews.html
I was deferred ED, will the bump that gave me with the demonstrated interest carry over to RD?
@bken2018 A lot of deferred ED applicants are accepted RD, so yes you do have a little advantage.
Does anyone have a general idea when RD admission decisions come out?
@msoiney7 last year RD decisions came out March 17th at around 6
@as2018 wait aren’t they supposed to come out around march 31?
@aussiehopeful22 the website says that the decisions will be out by late March but they came out March 17th last year.
