Northwestern --- Submit Regular Decision(RD) before Early Decision(ED) deadline??

Hello, all!! New to CC!! Here’s my question:

I cannot apply to Northwestern solely because of finance issue(I am an international student, which means I will not get any financial aid, plus I feel like my statistics is average among NW applicants so I’m not likely to get any scholarship. Therefore I have to pay full tuition, and it is VERY HIGH. But I might get something from other schools so I cannot apply ED.) However, I already have everything done! It’s November 1st today, which means I can submit my RD application even before ED deadline (or like submit early in November). Should I do that or is it completely not necessary?? Or should I submit and send them an email and explain what I had above??

What will happen if I submit?? Will it be beneficial for admission?? Or does it at least show my interests?? I mean I am extremely INTERESTED since I WAS gonna apply ED

(I finished it before ED deadline because I used to plan for ED, but after a long discussion with my parents I gave up ED)

Thank you so much!!!

Yes you can submit your RD application now. No extra benefit.

Agree, you can submit your application whenever it is ready. The only benefit to doing so is that you know it is done and it is off your desk. Admissions officers likely won’t look at the application until the ED round is complete.

Ok, but if I submit early, does it mean mine would be the first couple ones to be read early in January??? Since I submit earlier than other RD applicants???

None of us works for Northwestern admissions and none of us knows what goes on those behind closed doors in terms of determining the order that applications are read in. Applications may read in order of receipt, in alphabetical order, by geographic region – who knows? It really doesn’t matter. The bottom line is that your package will be compared to all other applicants that are in by the RD deadline. There is no particular advantage or disadvantage to getting your application in early. If you feel the application is complete and want to move on and get it off your desk, then send it in. If you want to hold it for a while that is fine as well.
