northwestern supplement

hey you guys.. happy holidays

i was wondering on the optional supplement for northwestern

"If you have done any research or independent study outside of school, please include an abstract or summary of your work.'

does it only include research papers and that sort ....or more? im really confused on this topic..

please answer, i have the same question

[Abstract (summary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_(summary%5DAbstract">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_(summary))</p>

I know what an abstract is, but is this for every applicant??? I mean, I haven't really done any research. I thought maybe it was for the medical student applicants or something.

Of course it's not for every applicant. I think they just want you to include it if you've done major independent research

Well, I've done leisure reading on American churches and such, but nothing real intense like I'd assume medical students are doing. Should I write about that??? And how long are they expecting?

<<<
Statement on Research (Optional)

If you have done any research or independent study outside of school, please include an abstract or summary of your work.

leisure reading probably wouldn't count as research

take it literally... if it was intensive research OUTSIDE of school, then do this essay.. if it wasn't research, then don't. simple

If you read that question and something you did instantly came to mind, it's probably relevant. If you have to stretch your imagination to find something you think might fit as research, it probably isn't. This question mostly applies to ACTUAL research (hypothesis, variables, conclusions, etc.)-- not leisure reading.

Okay, thanks.
