Northwestern Teacher Recs

On the main Northwestern site, it says that AT LEAST one teacher evaluation is required, and then in the instructions, it says it is optional.

Furthermore, when I called Northwestern, they said that I only needed a guidance counselor recommendation.

Which is the right one?

Does Northwestern mean that the SSR is the guidance counselor recommendation? And that the teacher evaluation is optional? (of course, I WILL be asking for a teacher evaluation)

Good question, also, would they accept supplement recommendations? Like, say, the Director of Recreation for my town?

When I went to an info session, the admin. person said that applicants submit around 3 recs. She said that 3 was a good number.

When I applied, I just followed the Common App procedure- two teacher recs and a counselor rec. :)

I ended up doing four recs as a transfer: HS advisor, HS teacher, college advisor, college teacher. I felt like having at least two people from each school would give NU a good judgement on my character from two different times. It's always better to do more, just to be safe--better that they know a lot about you rather that not enough.

I also followed Common App procedure with two teacher recs & a counselor rec.

Only if they all add important information to your app. If not, I think you're better off with fewer recs.
