i am having that problem, rubbs. i'm giving up and calling tomorrow.

that happened to me on caesar. i restarted my browser and it worked again.

ok here's a question. on the transfer credit evaluation, what exactly does general credit do? is it just filler credit that gives u enough total credits to graduate on time? or can it like satisfy dist. req's and the like?

i was wondering that, too....i am gonig to visit campus this week and have a meeting w/ my advisor. i'll ask him then...what is your major, btw bubblymc?

was electrical engineering, then applied math, and then economics. so at nu, i'd go for economics w/ math minor. possibly business. you?

yeah i was physics....now biomed eng w/ french...i'd like to double major, but i just don't know if i'll have time. i'll probably end up staying a full 4 yrs at NU

ya it seems really hard to double major as a transfer, since there are so many classes you need for core and stuff and you have a limited amount of time to take them. i was thinking about doubling in math and economics, but now i see that i can't do it.

perhaps a major and double minor? my advisor told me that double majoring is still a possibility. most transfers are actually ahead in distro requirements, while NU students are ahead in major requirements. i'd rather get the distros out of the way and have fun for the last 2 years!

do u know if the transferred credits that are labelled as general credit or SUBJECT 3xx will satisfy distribution requirements?

general credit fulfills electives while certain subjects might fulfill distro requirements. what happens is that each particular school requires u to take 3 classes in certain areas like....math/science is one...literature is another. i came in w/ 3 english classes...1 2 of which did have 2XX or 1XX (this basically means they can't match the class u took at ur other school to a class @ NU, but u still get the credit)...so technically, I would have fulfilled the LIt distro requirement... but Northwestern's policy is that at least 1 class from every set of distro requirements must be completed at NU. Soooooo the 3rd english class basically counts as an elective...(which is fine, because northwestern requires a lot more electives than most colleges).

ok cuz i've looked at the wcas student handbook and it seems like each year they have a list of specific classes that meet distribution requirements, which suggests that not all courses can be used to meet the distros, e.g. an english class that is transferred to 2XX may not satisfy the lit distro. but if you're right, then word. i'll email one o the peeps.

hey don't know how useful it will be but I just made a photobucket account of some of the dorms (http://s91.photobucket.com/albums/k305/truegibberish/).... some aren't even in consideration for transfers, but it'll at least give you an idea for campus. It's dead gorgeous. No worries, I threw away all the half-Northwestern, half-thumb photos. And there were a few of those. I still can't pick on housing, but I'm leaning towards 1865 Orrington. Anyone know anything about it?

Also, if you find out anything about how the 2xx classes count for requirements, let us know! Thanks! Can't wait to meet you all in the fall.

I was also on campus for the first time this week. It is much prettier than I expected. The website really doesn't do the campus justice. Alas, there are a few hideously ugly buildings--eg, the main library (tear that thing down!)--but overall it's better than I ever imagined.

I found your photos via a search, truegibberish. You must have posted the wrong link. This one works:

You had a ")" in your url!

thanks, John. Sorry about that. I'm not exactly technologically savvy, as the throw-away camera proves. And I definitely agree on the main library, although the inside at least tries to make up for the outside.

were you able to check the insides of these dorms?

none of 'em were open, although i'm going to try and see again tomorrow, my last day on campus. There are some high school groups staying around there, and I might be able to get in.

lol there's no way u'll be able to get in. i'm a counselor for one of these high school programs and if u don't have a badge and ur not w/ the dorm director, the students are advised to call NU PD asap. just letting u know...wouldnt want u to be thrown off campus!

shpp that's silly. haha well alright I won't try. My investigative skills are quite lacking anyway. No wonder all the little people are wearing their lanyards like desperate first-day frosh. How's that going by the way?
