that is not true. i received a letter from northwestern stating that decisions will be made on a rolling basis after may 1. it may be a college of arts and sciences thing only. and btw bball87, why ar eyou transferring out of cornell? i am applying as a transfer student there. be brutally honest please

they told everyone they would make them on a rolling basis after may 1...they spend a month to review them & wind up in june is my guess...whatever, thats what the admissions rep sent to me.

does that mean that they first look at the applications that were submitted earliest?

first completed i think...btw, i think my post about timing would only apply to ppl applying to have sophomore standing...cus most freshman (like myself) wont have 24 semester hours done in one semester, so we need the whole year. Thus, for freshman, whenever they get your final transcript they would start reviewing it I think. Though they could place some weight on when you submitted it as well...they probably could find a system for that.

btw...forgot about the fact that not everyone matriculates on that acceptance rate prediction...its more around like 23-24% based on the stuff they have in that common data set to hit 100 actual students choosing to matriculate.

ok so i just submitted part II online...is there any way to tell if the supplemental materials have been submitted? i requested to have my transcripts and such sent months ago....hopefully they are there

yes there is a way to see that...

enter your info, submit, and then click on "verify which of your application materials" and it will show you what is in, what isnt & such

thanks!
this may be a dumb question....but what does the "O" in the box next to the teacher rec mean?

They start evaluating applications once your final transcipt has been received. Probably, those who got off school early can get their final transcripts earlier so they will probably get reviewed first is my guess.

not an O but a zero...aka, none in yet i think

anyone else have an "O" by where it says teacher rec?

honestly I don't even know if I should apply and waste that money. I have already sent everything in except for the actual app but my finals end May 24th and they probably won't get it till the end of May...by that time I would have already accepted the other schools offers or decided to stay at my current school. My family needs to know if I'm staying with them another year ASAP (buying a house depends a lot on how many people are going to be living in it...) so I don't know. I guess it would still be great to know that I got it and maybe apply next year... good luck guys. This sucks.

That's a zero - it means they haven't received any teacher recommendations. I wouldn't stress too much about it if you just sent them in the last week or so....they took around 3-4 weeks to process my recs. If you sent them much earlier and they're still not showing up, there's a number somewhere to fax them in, or you can have them sent in again (postmark deadline is May 1, so if you can get them sent again tomorrow you're fine, and you could probably squeeze a little more leeway). Remember: don't panic, they want you to be able to successfully apply.

Bumpitybump: I don't know for sure, but if it helps, I'm not submitting my essays until tomorrow (before midnight Chicago time, of course). I've been writing and re-writing and editing and working on them over at least four months, but somehow it always comes down to the last day...I've been working on them for a while today, but right now I feel sick and I'm not in good shape to proofread and do final edits, so I'm going to sleep and pick them up again tomorrow. I figure that if the deadline is May 1, then I can submit it on the deadline and be fine, and furthermore, if paper applications can be mailed (and postmarked) on May 1 and still be on time (which it says is fine in the top left of the e-app), there's no reason why electronic applications can't be submitted on May 1 as well. To add to that, if you're currently a freshman, then they need to wait for your second-semester grades for your application to be complete anyway.

Good luck to everybody who is applying!

thanks!!!!

my transcript will be finalized in the registrar's office by May 12th (exams end like the 8th, decently early)...so im pretty happy about it

thanks random1345!

Am I the only one still working on the essays? :/
