@Transfer510 yup!
@VaishS great job! You were definitely a shoe-in candidate, NW was almost a safety for you
i know its pointless but for piece of mind id appreciate any opinions on my chances:
rising sophomore
applying into sesp
very competitive high school gpa:3.56, freshman and sophomore year brought me down, high marks junior and senior year, lots of honors, one ap
at a big 10 school now gpa: 3.84
act 28
very involved in high school, two sports and other activities each year, involved in college working at a rape crisis center and in greek life, transferring because i don’t like the party scene here, i am more focused on academics which is why id like to be in a higher stress environment, would be a third generation nu student
essay’s were quality and i met personally with admissions counselors and the academic advisor of sesp social policy major
i know my chances aren’t good at face value but I’m a very motivated student and have proved it in college so I’m staying optimistic
So excited I just had to make an account.
Got into CAS!
Stats if curious-
Currently at a big west coast state school
HS GPA: 3.9
College GPA: 3.95
ACT: 34
Major: Art history
Work with the radio station, literary magazine, and volunteer at an art gallery here. Have taken almost exclusively humanities and social sciences courses.
Was an executive of a club in hs, volunteered with a community radio station, and worked as a waiter during breaks but not too much else.
Good luck to everyone!!
@cimaroo When did u get accepted? In which time zone?
Congratulations!!
@1052098 I got the email today around 2 pm Pacific.
Have decisions ever been released on a Thursday (ie could we expect a wave today or is it totally unheard of)?
@brownstone89 i’d assume we have to wait until next wednesday for the next release
i haven’t received any word from northwestern yet but i thought i’d post my stats anyway
applied to CAS for political science a few days before the deadline (i got the email about my application being complete sometime last week at 8 PM). i’m currently a freshman engineering student (yes i know–i did a complete flip going from engineering to political science).
HS GPA: 3.7
Test scores: SAT 2040 (super scored), sat subject test math 2 (700) and literature (680)
i didn’t do much in high school really–i was on the jv womens tennis team for three years, did some volunteer service, nhs and peer leaders. i was a preschool teacher assistant for a daycare and i was the senior manager of my high school’s child development program.
APs: MEH (3), Micro (4), Macro (4), English Lit (4), USH (5)
College GPA: 3.92 (i go to a state school in nj)
Extracurriculars:
-on the professional development committee for fbla-pbl where i present to general members about financial literacy and entrepreneurship while conducting case studies
-i mentor and tutor elementary school kids
-i went on an alternative break over winter break where i tutored refugee children and worked with refugee families from all over the world. this was truly the most amazing experience i’ve ever had, and it made me completely reevaluate my major, career path and life in general. i wrote about this in my essay.
-i’m the editor-in-chief for a writing club and i’ve substantially increased the weekly yield (which i’m super proud of LOL)
recs are pretty good
i personally think my essays are great–i truly poured my heart and soul into them.
my test scores make northwestern a long shot but hopefully the admissions people like my enthusiasm and passion. good luck to the rest of you! you all are so talented and you’ll do amazing things in life

No. It was yesterday afternoon. @somehmonggirl
@kwabtw that’s ridiculous, I’m sorry to hear that. You are obviously very qualified.
You guys know the most annoying thing about transfer admissions? They probably know almost instantaneously whether or not they want us. They look for good grades, preparation/available slots for the major, and how much room they have for new students. It seems much less complicated than first year admissions. Of course there are other things, but it seems to be much more transparent.
@SeinfeldFan1 Thanks. Probably I’m not the type of students they like.
