Recommendations: None Yet, I am asking my sociology professor and he always tells me I that I am very smart and that I should pursue multiple career paths. I finished my 50 question plus essay and double checked it, all in 15 minutes to prove I am really smart to him. He should give me a good recommendation. (Telling it how it is…)
Might also ask my ECON Professor for a letter of REC (My Major)
also: may help to specify how many credits you have. but also chance me’s are kind of redundant anyway, we have no access to your whole application the way admissions counselors do bc we don’t see your recs, essays, etc.
How bad is it if i change a class to pass fail (unrelated to my major)? if i get in, will changing this class to pass fail potentially get me rescinded?
@cmf555 No it probably shouldnt be a big deal at all since it isnt major-related. But this is something I would probably update them on now instead of later. A quick email would be good
So when I called back, the transfer specific lady still didn’t pick up. However, I re-called and talked to the general admissions people and they said any time between now and June which isn’t too helpful. Sorryy
It is interesting though that they said “now to June”, which means now is a possibilty
Comp Sci major, prospective sophomore student from top 40 private college according to US News. (In Top 10 hardest schools to get As in class. Idk if the college will consider this…)

Essay: put my soul into it. I have no regrets. Northwestern was the best statement essay I’ve ever written in my entire life. (I cried a little myself when I read it again)
Recs: They should be okay, since both profs liked me alot
My sister went to NU, and since then I was dying to go here. I’d die of happiness if i get in…
College: top 25 LAC (according to Forbes), but top 40 according to U.S. News
Prospective Sophomore
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.93
ECs: Investment Club, Men’s Club Rugby, Alternative theater troupe, Social Business Venture Fund
ACT: 32
HS: 3.15
^Few Notes:
I went to a nationally-ranked private school with a grade deflation problem (average Northwestern admitted GPA from my high school was something like a 3.6 (and they take a LOT of kids from my high school); plus, I was admitted to my current college ED which has an average enrolled student ACT of 30 and median GPA of 3.6)
I took a bunch of honors courses (that weren’t weighted, unfortunately)
My grades dropped in high school from freshman year to sophomore year, but they’ve been steadily rising since then, with a big jump my first semester of college
Recs: very solid, professors I asked seemed genuinely saddened by my news and offered to talk to me if I wanted (got As in both their classes and participated a lot).
Essays: superb, went through a number of drafts on each of them and more or less poured my soul into the words
Other: I was awarded a scholarship to do paid research over the summer with an economics professor at my college. Our research focus is designing a social business investment model for education based on cases in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
I was rejected by Michigan (before the research position was offered to me), so I’m wondering if I still have a chance at Northwestern, or if that news is a good indicator that I do not.
