I have been waitlisted for the 2018 class at Northwestern. I was just wondering how many more people here at CC have also been waitlisted so that we can know our chances.
Does anyone have any clear information on the number of people who are usually wailisted and how many are accepted later on?

@TimKanake - Congratulations on making the Waitlist! This was the toughest year ever for NU admissions, so you are among the lucky few this year. I haven’t seen any firm numbers, but it is my impression that Northwestern doesn’t Waitlist many students as a rule.

I think @amtc 's D was admitted off of the Waitlist several years ago, so perhaps she can speak to how the process worked for them, but I would certainly suggest a follow up with Admissions letting them know how interested you are in attending and any recent accomplishments that could help your case.

Fingers crossed for you!

@MomCares I accepted the offer and am currently working on a follow up letter with the recent achievements. Thank you.

I was wait listed as well. They usually rarely take people off the wait list, but fingers crossed this year is different. Do you think they will start contacting people after May 1?

@ilovelacey Mid may most probably

Yes, MomCares is correct, my daughter was accepted after being waitlisted (she was admitted to Yale btw, just to put things in perspective, waitlisted means you are qualified but there was no room). It was 2009 so it’s hardly relevant but it does let you know if happens. Good luck!
