Northwestern Waitlist Class of 2024

Woah, what state are they from?

Hey for those who are off the waitlist and trying to set things up, are you having trouble accessing things? Like Iā€™m unable to do a lot of the orientation stuff because it says I donā€™t have access or that itā€™s invalid.

west coast

@superdomestique Wow! Do you know if these three students accepted their spots or if they decided to commit elsewhere?

I think all accepted as they all posted to social media and told their counselors.

Do people think that there will be more waitlist movement today?

i think there might be! last week they released some decisions on wednesday around 3 so letā€™s hope!!

Any updates??

Hey, Iā€™m not sure if I should upload a letter of reccomendation onto my portal. I mean should I have the reccomender send it in? If so, then do they email the university?
Or is it okay if I upload it on the portal myself/give them my portal details and they upload it?

My sonā€™s on this waitlist. He really likes NUā€™s Econ program and the vibe of the place when we visited. Personally, I liked the Bat 17 burger shop that we went to after the tour.

However he knows the chance is low. One friend from his high school was already drawn from the waitlist and accepted the slot. In the past NU has often had a fairly large waitlist as well. Last year they took 55 from 3067 on the waitlist ā€¦

I donā€™t know the yield from the waitlist offers that got them to 55, but if like RD yield (it could be better), thatā€™s maybe 100 offered slots. Perhaps that number drawn from the waitlist gets bumped up a bit this year, but itā€™s also possible they accepted a bit more during RD proactively. Certainly see a range with schools like Dartmouth and Vanderbilt this cycle (my son didnā€™t apply to either).

@ridingthewave I agree with what youā€™re saying. A lot of this is really just speculation, but itā€™s really all we can do right now. I too have been interested in NUā€™s programs for almost four years now, and this is my dream school. As many schools in general have been pulling more kids from their waitlist, I do not think that Northwestern is done and am anticipating at least one more, probably smaller, wave.

Also, I believe that the waitlist will run longer than normal this year. Another thing that needs to be considered is how US schooling is going to work for international students which likely will no be figured out for many weeks. If that is the case, it is likely that NU will make another pull later if international students are not able to get here.

when do we think this next wave will be?

@dinosaurgeek23 I think itā€™s possible to maybe see one next week or the week after.

Hereā€™s my thinking. They took a good amount of people off the waitlist last week. It is highly unlikely that all of them accepted the spots which means NU have some empty spots. Also, it is likely that students who committed to NU by May 1 are also getting off waitlists at schools they deem a better fit for them.

So, I think NU is waiting to see how many of their current students leave the class and how many waitlist spots were not accepted. Then they will do another wave. Again, I believe that the wave will be much smaller than the one last week.

@waitlistgirl123 considering NU has taken up to 50 in the past, I think theyā€™ll take around that number or more up to 100 this year hopefully. Most colleges havenā€™t announced plans to start the fall online yet, and it seems probable at this point, so more people might take a gap year too.

ugh i reaaaally hope we find out soon :frowning: hopefully within this coming week!

I just got off the waitlist. You guys can ask me any questions you like about it?!

@Doodoo27 Did you get off today?

Congrats! When did you send any LOCIs/AO emails? Also what region?

congrats! did you apply for financial aid?

also, did they email you or call?
