Northwestern . . .

Okay, let me start my apologizing - this is my first time posting so if I am doing something wrong I am sorry!

I know this is a question that is always asked, but I too am eager to know whether or not I am a "Northwestern prospect".

Here are a quick look at my stats:

GPA: 4.1
ACT: about a 30, hopefully it will go up to a 32/33
Rank: unsure, though top 10% - my school is pretty competitive, and a lot of kids from my school go to NU
Classes: 5 AP classes so far (not easy ones like human or art history; more like government, chemistry, english), 9 Honor courses, and 1 Regular
Extracurriculars:
Freshman Year: Indian Student Association (as the name implies), Ping Pong, and Math Team
Sophomore Year: ISA, Ping Pong, Math Team, Interact, and Tennis Team
Junior Year: Interact, Math Team, Debate Team, Business Professionals of America

I am on the leader board for Interact, and hopefully I will be president next year.
I won first place at state for BPA.
Main speaker for fall state for debate team

I have roughly 200 hours of community service

I have also tutored, as well has conducted leadership activities with youths from my religious group (40 hours).

I plan on taking the SAT Subject Tests for english, math ii, and chemistry, or maybe even united states history

Thank you very much for your time, if you have more questions just post, and I will reply.

Please post chances threads in this subforum: [What Are My Chances? - College Confidential](Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums)

Anyway, I think you’ve good chances, especially if the ACT goes up. Maybe try the SAT? And if you only need two SAT IIs and get good scores on both, there’s no need to spend time on others. Now stop saying Art History is easy :).

Please can I get any more feedback!!!

I am applying for a bunch of internships at local prestigious labs - they are nationally known.

You have a very good chance of getting into Northwestern with that record.

Suggestion: have a try at the SAT and SATII’s. Those will bolster your transcript.

[Chance me!](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/899627-what-my-chances-nyu-cornell.html"]Chance”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/899627-what-my-chances-nyu-cornell.html)

Its a match, you would certainly fall into a “Northwestern prospect”
Work on GPA and test scores a little, and hopefully get that internship, but regardless, you should feel confident in your chances, though it certainly is no lock.

chance back
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/889642-chance-me-rice-duke-jhu-ect-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Does anyone have any suggestions, towards what else I can do to enhance my chances on getting in?
Like take a course there, internship, assist a professor, and so on.

Okay, I don’t know if this will help me get more responses but I will too “Chance Back”

Next year, I admit I have signed up for some easier AP courses, like human geography and macro/micro, essentially what I am trying to say is that my GPA is bound to go up to roughly a 4.2; should I apply ED or RD?

I will graduate with
10/12 AP courses (AP Gov’t US + Comp and AP Macro/Micro)
9 Honors Courses
3 Computer Courses
3 Years of a foreign language - should I complete the last year, through a community college?
1 Regular Course

Applying ED is a good idea if: a) you know where you want to go. It looks like you do, with Northwestern.
b) you don’t need financial aid at that school. You don’t find out about aid til the spring. You don’t want to lock yourself into something you can’t pay for.

Based on my stats presented above, would it be within my interest to apply ED? Basically, would I have a better chance on getting in?

I personally wouldn’t advise ED (EA definitely) for the reasons bchristian has already outlined.

your gpa and act scores are low
btw what is your unweighted gpa?

unweighted gpa is about a 3.5 - that is mostly because I have taken many honors and AP courses - half are about B’s (i know horrible)

i dont know if i need that much aid, i heard NU does not give much money anyway.

Any ways to increase my chances in getting accepted?

Continue doing community service. Starting your own service organization would greatly increase your chances of getting accepted.

once again i will chance back !!!

The best thing you can do (and again, I know I say this a lot) is try to show a passion for a specific career field in your extracurriculars. I’d recommend trying not just for internships at labs but also just checking if any of your parents’ friends can help you out in any way. Most importantly, be specific when applying - like most quality schools, Northwestern probably scrutinizes the cohesiveness of extras as much as the quality of them. Strong essays should pull you in the rest of the way.

Chance back, please!
