How does NU compare to Penn, Columbia, and Yale socially? I visited recently, and the student body seemed very, very artsy. Is it considerably more so than other schools?

Also, the school seemed sort of lacking in diversity(Especially in the pre-frosh group). Is it? Are there many Indian students? African-American?

I really liked Penn socially(May have had something to do with knowing a lot of people there)...Is NU anything like Penn? Similar number of Indian students?

I don't really know how 'frat' I am...Is Greek life essential at NU? This may seem repetitive, but how does the reliance on Greek life compare to that of Penn, Columbia, and other top-10 schools?

Sorry, these questions may seem sort of dumb, but I would really appreciate some help.

Sorry I don't know any specific stats to answer your questions, but on my trip it seemed pretty diverse. My first night I stayed will a girl form Croatia, which I thought was really cool since I've never met anyone from there (great music). From what she told me there is quite a bit of diversity on campus. Also, regarding Greek life, everything I've heard is that whether you want to be involved in it or not, you'll still have a great college experience. Most of the people I spent time with were not involved in the Greek system. Hope this helps a little.

Northwestern is awesome. I came up to visit with my brother there after I was admitted and he took me to 3 different parties the first night, and the second night i got to see Russell Peters perform and went to the afterparty. And since i myself am indian i was introduced to the massive indian population there so dont think its full of simply white artsy snobs. there are plenty of science-hungry FOBs
