I won't be able to attend any of the Calso sessions, unfortunately. (I am a Freshman at CL&S, UCB).

As I understand it, this means I'll get my Advisor Code only in the middle of July, and only then will I be able to sign up for courses at Telebears. Is that right?

Is it reasonable to expect that some of the more popular courses might be fully signed up for by that time (mid-July / towards the end of Phase I)?

So it seems while maths and philosophy aren't too popular, is it quite likely I won't be able to get on the Economics course in my first semester?

Don't just look at lecture enrollment, look at the discussion/lab times as well. I had CalSO this past weekend and the counselors there eavily discouraged taking econ first semester so most of those enrollments are probably from continuing students.

Discussion times are listed immediately after the lecture one. They're followed by the "DIS" or something like that. Lectures have "LEC" after them and lab times the "LAB".

I'm not saying drop econ from your list if you want to be an econ major, the calso counselors were just telling everyone it's not a very good transition course for students because the grading curve and reading/intensity of the class shock freshman, as well as take up a lot of time. But yea, check to make the class is offered Spring semester (probably is) and it'd probably be safer to take it then? idk...

You don't declare your major till the end of sophomore year. I'm sure the packet they send people who can't attend CalSO will be really helpful.

"people who can't attend calso will receive a call from a calso counselor (if you haven't received one already)"

I can't take the call (for the same reason I can't attend Calso) - I'm currently away and outside the US. Is it possible to do this via an exchange of emails instead?
