I left Boston University for a semester and then applied to Stony Brook University and they didn't accept me.. It was the only college I applied for cause I assumed I would be accepted. I never failed any of my classes in BU I think my GPA was above a 3 aswell. How did this happen?

Well, how far along were you in school? Many universities only take Junior transfers. Many have requirements as to how many units and which classes need to be taken prior to transfer. If you don’t have these, consider a community college until you do and get some counselling for the particular schools you are interested in.

If you had all the qualifications it might just be a space issue. There aren’t as many openings for transfer students.

I finished freshman year and had 28 credits.

I’m not sure what to tell you. I checked out the site and it looks like you qualified with 28 units and a 3.0 or above (though you don’t seem to know exactly what the GPA is so not sure how you applied without that info.) Maybe the competition was tough this year. It’s also a state school and they tend to favor transfers from other in-state colleges and local community colleges.

I’m sorry you are disappointed but it’s not too late to apply for Fall of 2014 if you qualify as a transfer to other schools. Good luck!

I just sent out an application to University of Buffalo. If I don’t get a spot then i’m going to miss out on another semester of school. I’ll be behind a whole year.

Perhaps the major you applied for is full at Stony Brook?

UB, Stony are hard to get into and like turtle time said the do give priority to New York transfers. The SUNY schools all met and decided to increase admission intakes from New York residents for 2014 so that could of played a part in this. Sorry about the bad news hope you turn things go in your favor. Good luck!
