Not Another Chance Thread...

Hey all. I'm reluctant to do this, but what the heck. If you could chance me, that would be lovely.

I've been working for over a year at a Barnes & Noble-esque bookstore.
I've received a lot of academic awards (especially in English), as well as numerous medals on state and national Latin exams. I also received the Holy Cross Book Award and the PSAT National Merit Scholar thingy (ha). Oh, and I'm told I'm a really strong writer, so my essays should be good (should be...).

What concerns me is that I really haven't taken many AP's compared to kids at other schools, but a big thing at a lot of colleges is how the applicant challenged himself within his school...right? Heh. Also, it took until junior year for me to really come out of my shell and get involved, so that also worries me...

Phew! Enough talking about myself (ugh). So...thoughts?

If your school doesn’t offer a lot of APs Vassar will know this. They profile all of the schools that send them applications and are aware/knowledgeable of what courses you were offered in comparison to what courses you chose to take. That being said, the fact that you do not have as many APs as another applicant will not matter to Vassar as long as you have been taking some of the hardest courses that were available.

For instance, for one Vassar grad I met with, his school did not have any leveled courses whatsoever. Still he got into Vassar. I’d say you have a great shot since your stats are so impressive. Write a BA essay.
