NOT Applying Early Decision?

I am a junior, so will obviously be applying next year...and I've basically decided that I will NOT be applying anywhere early decision. I'm looking at top LACs and some of the smaller research universities (and my huge state schools, with some reservation), and I was wondering if NOT applying early decision could significantly hurt me in admissions? I know applying ED gives you an advantage, but is it that big of an advantage if you're qualified for the school anyway?

My reasons for not applying early decision are kind of all over the map...some are financial. I'm not relying too heavily in FA, but at the same time, since I like so many of the schools I am considering equally, I would like the ability to compare aid packages including merit aid. Also, I just can't choose WHERE I would apply ED. I like all the schools on my list!

So yeah, the general game plan for my application process is...apply to as many schools as I can on my list, all for RD, and compare aid packages at the schools I am accepted at. Is this a bad strategy?

No, your strategy's fine. They say the main reason ED helps is because ED applicants are more qualified anyway.
