Not attending lecture the first week of instruction

Hey everyone. I might not be capable of attending my first two lectures the first week of instruction (thursday, friday). If I miss lecture will I be dropped from the course?

Thank you for your help

You think I should email my gsi and ask if it would be possible to miss lecture those days? I don't have any discussions those days.

Yeah i’d email just to play it safe- typically just science, lab, and small discussion (like decal) courses will have rules about it.

I would definitely email both the professor and the GSI. If it’s a popular course at all, it will have people on the waitlist. If you don’t attend the first few lectures or give any prior notice to your GSI about your absence, they may drop you and give your seat to someone on the waitlist. Usually this just applies to discussions, but in one class I took, they noted attendance in lecture as well during the first two weeks due to high number of people on the waitlist.

Thank you for the advice. I will try emailing my gsi and professor.
