Here is a list of some of the colleges I am thinking about. Are they out of my league? Which are reaches/safeties/targets? I feel like I don't have enough safeties/targets and too many reaches... =/ Feel free to suggest any you think would be in my range.

American University
Boston University
NYU
Emerson
Boston College
Providence College
UConn
Georgetown
Gettysburg College
McGill University
Villanova
University of Notre Dame
University of Maryland College Park
SUNY Purchase
University of San Diego

Oh, and College of William & Mary. Sorry I know that’s a lot.

bump…

le bump.
anyone?

bump10char

American University- probably a high target
Boston University- high target
NYU- high target/low reach
Emerson- high target
Boston College- reach
Providence College- low target/safety
UConn-low target/safety
Georgetown-reach
Gettysburg College- high match/low reach (i might be wrong but does gettysburg not require standardized testing scores? muhlenberg doesn’t- you might want to check that out only because your scores are a little weaker than gpa/ecs)
McGill University- no idea
Villanova- target
University of Notre Dame-high reach
University of Maryland College Park- no idea
SUNY Purchase- safety
University of San Diego- no idea
College of William & Mary-reach

i’d say that you actually have a pretty good range! if you were really into narrowing down the list, cut out a reach or high target. the schools you’re interested in are very different, so you might want to spend some time thinking over what you really want. notre dame and william and mary aren’t alike at all, so maybe figure out which is more you? also, you seem to be all over the country (and is mcgill in canada?) so maybe narrow that down too. good luck!

American University - acceptance
Boston University - acceptance
NYU - probable acceptance
Emerson - acceptance
Boston College - rejection
Providence College - acceptance
UConn - acceptance
Georgetown - rejection
Gettysburg College - acceptance
McGill University - probable rejection
Villanova - acceptance
University of Notre Dame - rejection
University of Maryland College Park -acceptance
SUNY Purchase - acceptance
University of San Diego - acceptance

SAT will hold you back at a lot of these schools. ECs are only OK, nothing spectacular, except maybe the Dancing.

what is your class rank?

Thank you both so much! And my school doesn’t officially rank but based on weighted gpa I’m in the top 25-30%.

Yeah, I think I’ve narrowed down my list to these schools:
UConn
Providence College
American University
BU
McGill
Roger Williams
Villanova
Georgetown

but I’m still researching other schools. Thanks for your input!

Tufts, Bucknell, and Syracuse are among the schools I’m looking into, but I’m always open to suggestions…

I like medium to large sized schools (big enough for me to explore my interests, but small enough to really get to know professors and other people on a more personal level - small classes are a plus!); I’d LOVE a school with a great college town or one with lots of school spirit. Cities are fine with me. I’ve thought about going somewhere warm like Florida or California but I’m not sure what would be in my range. I definitely to go on an internship and study abroad. I want a school that has a diverse student body (interests & race) but also has a tight-knit community feel at the same time; I guess all in all I’m really just trying to find a school with solid academics where people are intellectually curious and motivated to do well but are also willing to help out others and take a breather now and then. A good location with lots of off-campus things to do is preferred but not necessary.

But none of the schools you listed are in warm areas…?

You might like University of Florida, but it is a bit large.

Look at:
Loyola Marymount
Occidental
Santa Clara University
University of San Francisco

All California, mostly liberal arts schools with strong English programs. At least they’re in warm areas! You are on target for these schools as well.

Thanks, haha. Yeah, like I said, I wasn’t exactly sure what would be in my range, but I’m from CT so being in an area that isn’t warm for another four years won’t bother me too much.
