I've been having scheduling conflicts with the buses home (my chem lab on the last day ends at 5pm or later while the buses only depart at 2 and 4pm) and my parents forgot it was my spring break when they booked a vacation so there's no one to drive me back for the bus return trip.

I looked at the academic calendar and it says:
"Spring Recess for students (no classes); University offices and buildings remain open and staffed during Spring Recess except on Friday, Spring Holiday." (March 12)

So I guess that means I could stay in the dorms the whole spring break, and maybe I'll hole myself inside and not come out during the day of March 12. Is this a good idea? Do many people stay in the dorms during spring break? Any advice is appreciated.

Have you looked into flying? You might be able to get a return flight and take a shuttle to the airport. I don’t know about Southwest and Jersey airports, but it does fly into Pittsburgh.

I think the dorms close because I have something written on the calendar about the time they reopen on the Sunday following spring break.

I don’t plan on going home at all because my parents will be away from home for the second half of spring break anyway. The academic calendar says that campus buildings and such will be open during spring break except for that one day.

They don’t say anything about closing the dorms, so I guess you’ll be okay.

Problem solved… I asked my RA who said I could stay in the dorms over the whole spring break.

Good news, Schrizto. Enjoy your time off. There will probably be plenty of international students around as well.
