Not homeschooled but want to try to self-teach..tips?

Hello all you homeschooled people,

Although I am not homeschooled myself, I do want to prepare myself so I will be well prepared for college next year. I am looking for some tips on self studying.

I want to self-teach myself college accounting, finance, management and organization, and maybe intermediate economics. I have the books for it, but I know that it wont be easy for me to discipline myself to study like I do for school.

So for those of you that self-teach entire subjects, please share your studying methods with me.

All I can say is that, I have to put myself up to it, even though I never feel like doing the studying myself. In the end it works out, and I feel very pleased. Sometimes I will have little rewards for myself, like saying, I can't go online until I finish this chpater, or I can't go out until I write the essay.....Just try little ways to encourage yourself:)

set up a timetable that will get you through the material, and stick with it. (1 chapter per week, 30 minutes per day, whatever)

Get several books on the same subjects. This will really help when you start tackling more complicated concepts. Having other books with different explanations of the same concepts will help enormously.

Helped me, anyway. Good luck!
