Hooks: I'm an identical twin if that counts for anything (highly doubt it does)

I want to study business in undergrad and go onto law school. Chance me for these schools please?

UNC Chapel Hill (instate)
NC State (instate)
Cornell
NYU
Boston University
Wake Forest
UPenn (humor me)
UC Berkley
U of Chicago
Duke

If you guys have any other suggestions on schools that might be a better fit for me, let me know! :)
Leaning towards UNC CH as my most likely school but I'm a little afraid of the grade deflation rumor that might hinder me from getting into a good law school.

UNC Chapel Hill (instate)- Match
NC State (instate)- Safety
Cornell- Reach
NYU- Match
Boston University- Low Reach
Wake Forest- Match
UPenn (humor me)- Reach
UC Berkley-Low Reach
U of Chicago- Reach
Duke- Reach

As expected from your post collegebound124, more schools on my list are reaches rather than matches. Do you guys have any suggestions for what schools I should be looking at for more of the “Match” area?

Also, @Bodangles, how much do you believe I would need to increase my SAT/ACT (when I take it) to be competitive for schools like Cornell or Berkley?

UofC and Penn are certainly the hardest n your list. Duke, Cornell, and maybe Berkeley are less reachy. Get your SAT to at least the mid-2200s and you’ll have a shot at all of these schools.

@rafanadal even Wake Forest? I guess i’m not as much of a match for that school as I thought. As far as the other schools, do you believe a higher ACT will significantly increase my chances? Around the 33-34 range.

Also, you say you want to study business, are you applying to Wharton, Stern, etc. because then even UNC might be a low reach. Cornell, Chicago, Duke, Penn, and Berkeley are all high reaches, I’d be shockeddddd if you got into 1 of them. Wake Forest and BU are low matches, although I seriously think you should consider schools in the 25-50 range more realistically, because you’re definitely working with a very polarizing pool of schools.

UNC Chapel Hill (instate)- Target
NC State (instate)- Match
Cornell- No
NYU- Reach
Boston University- Target
Wake Forest- Match
UPenn (humor me)- No
UC Berkley- High reach
U of Chicago- No
Duke- High reach

@ZaZa94 my rank for sophomore year was top 10 out of 600 (approx.) students, but that was before junior year. Since junior year is not over I would have to estimate but i’m most likely top 5% if not higher.

I’m really surprised that UNC CH is a reach for me, though I was above the averages and had a good shot of getting in. Would really be disappointed if I did not as it’s a great school and i’d be saving a ton of money for law school. Is there something I definitely need to improve that stands out as really lacking? I know my GPA is good (for our school anyway, really doubt 1-2 B’s with a rigorous course load would hurt me) and I know that I can get my ACT score up to at least a 33 if not higher.

@BearGlove what is the difference between a match and a target?
