Hi, I’m applying to some business schools as that is my main area of focus, but realized I don’t really qualify for any other majors. For example if I apply to UCR School of business, but then select English as my alternate, will that affect my chance of being accepted into the business school? I just don’t know what to put as my alternate, and if I can’t get into their business school I’d simply rather not go at all so I’m wondering if listing an alternate major that I am not qualified for will somehow disqualify me from being accepted in my primary major. Thank you!
You are not required to select an alternate major especially if you have not completed the prereq’s for another major.
Are you sure? There is no option for me to do so on the UC app, I’m transferring in as a junior so it won’t let me be undeclared.
@Chinamate: You cannot list undeclared but if you do not have the required courses for transfer, then how can you select an alternate major?
No, I have the required classes and units to transfer with my intended major, as I’m doing a business admin transfer. Just curious what will happen if I list psychology or something as my alternate when I haven’t really taken many psychology classes
If you do not have the required transfer courses completed for your alternate major, then the alternate major will not be considered during your application review.
sounds good, it won’t affect my acceptance regarding my main one that I do qualify for right?
Correct ^^^
